Technical Tools for Filter and Oil change

Hello,

Can anyone tell me what tools I would need to do my own oil and filter change please for a Panda 1.2 Petrol.

Do I need a pair of car ramps for the front?

You can do this with the car on level ground. If you have 4 planks or paving slab pieces you can drive up onto these and gain extra clearance. You need a filter wrench and a sump plug key. Mine is a hexagonal 11mm. You also need a fairly shallow drainer container to hold 3 litres . A ciut down washing up bowl should do. You should check twice that what you propose to use holds three litres. I used to use bread bags as gloves to avoid skin contact with the contaminated old oil. Also to remove the old filter when ot can by immediately wrapped for disposal. The car need to be level to drain all the oil.

...and engine needs to be warm/hot to have better oilflow...(don't get your hands burned....!!)
And get the oilfilcap and dipstick off as well before removing the sump plug, again for better oilflow.

Oil the gasket on the new filter with a bit of fresh oil, before fitting.

You can buy a drain pan that incorporates storage..

.... Don't forget to release the green vent plug in the corner top to allow the free flow of oil into that container though!
