did you mould it over an MDF former to get the shape?

The MDF is still there to give it strength. Got a reasonable fit to the door using blocks of wood and a plane and then made it a perfect fit with bodyfiller. (after covering the door in masking tape!)

Oh you ain't seen the half of it

So far I have:
stripped centre console and sound deadened it
stripped dash and sound deadened it
run 6 sets of cables front to back
foam filled both front door trims

Still got to:
deaden the rear quaters
deaden the bootlid
foam fill the plastic boot trim
make the boot build
passenger door
tweeter builds
fit the rest of the speakers
And lastly make it sound sweet.
