Good Day people ;)

I'm asking for your opinions please.

My 54 Stilo Dynamic JTD MW, didn't come with Connect Sat Nav, but i kind of like the look of them whenever i see one in peoples photo's.

So i was wandering is it worth the hassle of putting one in and if so which is the one to go for

Thanking you in advance for your answers :D

I've only seen a Connect Nav+ and what I believe is a Connect Nav. The CN+ has a large full colour screen that shows mapping and has full voice control. The CN has a small black and orange screen that only shows direction arrows. I don't know if it has voice control.

My car had a CN+ fitted from new and I've used it regularly for driving to Greece and Romania. I bought all 19 map discs for Europe. Voice control is good if you can learn all the words you need to control it with. I only use it for dialling phone numbers, everything else I use the buttons.

Main problem with it is that the hardware was designed 14 years ago, so is outdated and quite slow to plan a route. Also, the latest map discs available from Fiat or Navteq are 2010/2011, and it appears that they are not publishing any new updated discs. Not a problem in the UK because we don't have any money to build new roads, but I've finally succumbed to using a TomTom when driving abroad.

If you get one, look closely at the buttons. They have a thin rubber coating that can wear off, as seen in the CN picture below.

Out of curiosity do these sat nav's have an SD Card slot? Reason I ask is I have a rubbish Binatone sat nav but run Igo8 software and maps from the SD card so don't need the standard maps. If this has an SD slot then there is a chance he could do the same. Instead of just UK and Ireland I have full East and West Europe.

No SD slot. You can fit a SD card 5 CD changer emulator but it will only play music. Map data can only be read from CD.

I have a LoudLink CD emulator fitted to mine. Just about enough space above the dashboard fuse box for it.

TBH i wouldnt bother, there are far superiour sat navs/ dvd / divx / app players on the market.
My getting old pioneer unit has touch screen, sat nav (although i dont use it), bluetooth streaming, phone, video out to rear seats and main screen, sd card reader, usb card reader. And all i had to do was put a switched supply on the unit (it also sounds a lot better than the original unit).
It looks good with the correct surround and i think its easier to fit (other than loosing the steering wheel controls).

Im not 100% sure but i thought the connects needed extra connections etc and proxy re alignment after.
