General tints or sun shades

General tints or sun shades

I don't see what budget has got to do with it

I'd choose the blinds over tints any day. If you could never remove the blinds then I'd have agree with you but as has been said you CAN remove them. On my 5 door even the passengers can remove or fit the door blinds (including rear quarter lights) if they want without even stopping the car :slayer:

At any distance they look like a dark tint and you have to get really close to work out what they really are.

I have no reason to remove my tints or Blinds if i had them. As a designer i dont like the thought of the Imperfections of having the blinds and IMO you really can tell the difference between the two and tints do look a lot classier. If you want to block out the sun for a purely practical reason then i would agree that the blinds are the way to go but if you are aiming to enhance the look of the car then Tints all day long.

the only reason why i got blinds was because i wanted blinds , i had enough money to get tints at a place i found, but found the blinds and thought they would be a lot better, and also, if i want to, i can remove the blinds whereas i cant tints :D, and when ive finished with the blinds, i can sell them on for a profit, cant do that with tints

and i personally think, that when you come to sell a car with tints against a car with non tints (the stilo anyway), its not like its going to be worth more :D

EACH TO THERE OWN

Hey,
rather than starting a new thread thought i mise well ask in here, getting my back three windows tinted tomoz, i need to decide what shade, does anyone have a stilo with limo black, or dark smoke tints? as there the two shades im thinking between. Thanks.

Benvo

i have medium smoke. anything darker is well chav to be honest. if i had a lighter coloured car, i'd go for light smoke. medium should be fine for you as your car is dark too.

look for my car in members motors (y)

each to their own, but also remember, the darker you go without doing the fronts, the more its going to look like a van :yuck:

Lol! its not going to look like a van shhhhhhhhhh! lol. I duno what i want (left it bit late i know) why i was hoping be some different stilos showning darker compared to lighter tints.

Only reason aint having fronts done is so im not always getting pulled over lol.

probably, depends on the film they use.

also make sure they give you lifetime warranty incase it bubbles, fades, scratches, etc.

and as a guide, i paid £90 for mine plus 2 forum decals.

im liking that GOLD MARK 5 on the website :p

Well gettin it done for £85, he said films come with 10 year warranty, which i thought was fine as i prob wont have the same car for 10 years. Might ask him when i take it in tomoz as well, see if helps me decide.

That's a heck of a lot cheaper than I thought it'd be to get the back windows tinted, may do that myself. I understand the benefits of those shades (being able to remove them in winter and the like), but I wouldn't mind getting mine properly tinted and considering that price difference, it wouldn't be as much extra on top of the cost of the shades as I thought. Guess it's after seeing a few tinted on here and a number of my mate's cars that's got me thinking about it :)

Yeh thats about the price in lincoln, theres only one play that want like £150 but i think there is more the privacy glass stuff.

Contemplated having my rears and front sides done but...

1. Insurance Company wanted an extra 120 quid in premium for the year!
2. Advised by mates in Brum that I would be a lot more likely to get pulled over by the Police there, especially with the front sides done. Advised to leave front sides and get the rears done only but then to go only light or medium tint, as limo or blackout tints are frowned upon.

So make sure you inform your insurers... strange then that a colleague has a late plate black Focus which has very dark rear tints as standard. Presumably he pays no additional premium for the privilege, which makes the additional premium demanded by my insurer for the aftermarket version seem unfair. Just decided it wasn't worth the hassle really...
