Timing advance

Sorry to butt in but did they not mark it with paint afore they destroyed your beloved? Have you pulled the cover back to have a look? Could be a simple way to resolve?

Actually no that's ******** as you have run it! Damn my brain!!!!

There is a mark on the Timing belt pully that should match with one on the oil seal housing. To get number 1 to TDC
Mark crank possision. Get a disc of card that turns with the crank and a pointer that stays stationary.
Turn 10 degrees clockwise, Make another mark, Turn back through 20 degrees, turn forward agoin so your in line with the first mark, mark again. now the science, find the exact centre and make your third mark, turn the crank back through 20 degrees, turn forwards until the centre mark lines up with your arrow. The cam shafts should be kept still with your tool at all times. Think toy can buy them for about 20 quid?

Sorry to burst your bubble anon but the Bravo ain't my 'beloved' it's just my winter ride, my 'dearly beloved' gets to spend winter in the garage getting lots of TLC from yours truly, here's a pic of both.

Hey you guys !! Well, my Bravo must be different from everybody elses cos i got timing marks, there's a notch on the cam sprocket and a pointer . All i had to do was line up the mark, take number 1 plug out and drop a 2mm wire rod down, with the front O/S wheel jacked up and in top gear it was easy to move the wheel back and forth and watch the rod move up and down, crude i know but easy peasy it showed me that the timing was a tooth out, once rectified 'et voila' we got warp drive instead of impulse power, i've got foto's if you want them.

no, its 80. probably feels like less than 72 if its running as badly as it sounds...
