Started to notice a ticking sound when driving. The ticking gets quicker and quicker as you increase speed.

Under braking the ticking seems to almost stop.

When turning left the ticking seems more noticeable. When turning right it doesn't appear to be as noisy.

Brake pads and discs have been checked and appear fine.

Has anyone an idea?

Many thanks,

Where's it ticking from? In the days of analogue speedo's sometimes the speedo' would tick when the cable started wearing out.. but the 500ish is electronic.

I presume you haven't left your indicators on?? :geek:

If you have the climate control, is the sound coming from down by the gearstick/under the dashboard?

Or is it an outside the car (CV joints or driveshaft) noise? If you reverse slowly on full lock, does the car click then?

A ticking sound which follows the rpms sounds more like an exhaust manifold gasket leaking and probably some bolts are broken there too. It's not severe unless you get exhaust fumes inside the engine bay.

Road speed I guess

Got to be a clue here

Worse when the right side loaded more. Front or rear ?

I’d be having a closer look at the front offside if it’s from the front

Change wheel from side does the sound change

I suspect a good visual examination will reveal something

These lips start catching after awhile

So a little update for those interested.

When putting it up on the jacks, and running the engine, spinning the wheels you cannot really hear the clicking.

The passenger side shock was recently changed. Not sure if that would make a difference?

Any further ideas? :)

Speed of the ticking

One per tyre revolution
3 times tyre revolution
4 times tyre revolution

Front ?
Back ?

Thanks for everyone's help.

Tyre and wheel have been swapped. Seems to still be there. However, at low speed it seems it can be heard and now the high speed, the noise now seems to go.

Is it possible its a bearing or drive shaft issue?
