That's it, the FIRE engine doesn't bend its valves, I remember now!:D

Is the 1.2L the same?

306 Maxi, I'll give Mark a bell tomorrow, what's your name if you don't mind sharing it, so I can say who advised me to call.

ginoespo, i was thinking of asking for the 3rd rear belt to clinch the deal.

Am I right in thinking that the 1.1 doesn't have Air-Con but the 1.2 does:confused:
Yes the 1.2 is a non-interference engine. The 1.4 in the 100hp isn't.

My name is Daniel, I ordered a white 500 with a red leather interior and 16" multispokes :) He should know who I am from that.

Not sure if the 1.1 eco has air con or not but I'd consider it a must :)

According to the configurator the air con is indeed standard in the 1.2, and as that is an 8v lump it will not be carrying out origami on the valve stems :D :D

We done the scrappage deal when it first started . traded an r reg hyundai atoz which was worth about £300 for the 1.1 eco . Not a bad little car the wife uses it mainly for the school run and shopping etc etc and i use it for work once a week to give it a good run (70mile round trip) cant fault it . cheers Mick

Daniel, Have I see you in Dolgellau with your 500? There's one like you describe, with the red & green stripes around.

I thought it was an Arbarth.

Cheers to everyone who set me straight on the air-con thing.
I'm happy to save a grand and noy have it, we have the Voyager anyway for the two days a year its hot!

Where do you travel to for work out of interest Mick

Hello All.

I'm thinking of getting a new Panda 'Active Eco' by putting my Cincecento in for Scrappage.
Lookers are offering me £2100 trade in [Scrappage + £100] then pay £68 per month.
Does this sound like a good deal?

I'd be VERY interested to hear from anyone who has done a scrappage deal about your experience.

Are the new Pandas as good as the sales pitch makes out? Any pit falls to look out for? What can I expect to pay for services? {I've NEVER had a car serviced at a garage!, I'm a mechanic.}

Cheers Gareth

Getting back to your original post, the only way to see if it is a good deal is to add up all the money you will be paying them to swap.If the £68 is over three years that's £2448 plus your £1700, so yes it is a good deal. Don't forget to add in all the charges for credit they don't usually tell you about.

Hi Steve101.

Basicly I'm thinking that getting £2100 for a car that's worth £300 must be a good deal. The scrappage money will negate the interest paid on the loan.
after 3 years I'll own a three year old motor for an extra £1700 or chop it in as deposit on another new one.

I've looked at a few deals & this looks the best I've seen.

I couldnt recommend the Panda Active Eco enough its a fantastic little car.I traded in my Ford Probe 24V for one on the scrappage deal.I would have been lucky to get £500 for the Probe but I got £2100 for it on scrappage. The little 1.1 engine handles the city brilliantly and I can nip through traffic far quicker than I could in the big Probe. Its also steady on the motorway cruising at 70mph with no problems. You do have to work the car hard through the gears though when you get to steep hills but its not a problem. The build quailty is fantastic for such a cheap car.Yes its all plastic but the plastics are rock solid. Most of the previous cars I have owned have had cheap little bits of trim that break off. However I cant see anything breaking off on the Panda. Its much better built than my first Fiat Panda Super was.

Nah, my 500 has never been to Dolgellau

Mine looks like this :)

Fairly vanilla, no stickers, no added bits other than side rubbing strips and the wheels :)

Totally agree.

I traded in my S Reg Ford KA which was probably only worth around £500, I have had the Panda now for 4 months and had no problems whatsoever, the car handles well and does everything i need it to do.

Have you not spotted the Abarth yet? I live in Dolgellau and i've had it since March! Give us a wave if you see us, i go to Bermo quite a lot too (y) I've also seen the 500 with stripes in town too, think it's an old dear, she waves to me too.

I'll give you a wave (y) , look out fo my Little Green Cinq. Not sure what colour Panda we'll get yet.

I love the Abarth , ever since Top Gear tested it.:)

If they'll put me green & red stripes down the sides I'll have white!!

What other colours atre 'free'?

Also whats the difference between a series 1 & 2, I asked the guy at Slaters & he didn't know!

Series two has a slightly different grille, some different wheel trims etc etc. It's just cosmetic changes on the Panda really. I think the 1.1 gains a rev counter in series 2.

Free colours are the white and the baby sick yellow :)

The free white is actually the same as the colour of my 500

Thanks, so I know if its got a rev counter its an SII, having said that I'd settle for a SI with a discount! LOL :yum:

My Mrs. doesn't like white so I think it'll be 'Baby sick yellow!!' :yuck:
