Hi
I've done these on my frog (along with many other jobs) and replaced both the bearing and the metal and rubber triangular block. To get either of these off, you need to remove the shock from the car, and the spring from the shock, so I would do both to avoid repeating this in a few months.
I found that the easiest thing was to take the shock off the car, go to a local mechanic, in grubby clothes for a better price, and ask them to remove the spring from the shock, and rebuild it with the new parts. I think I paid £20 per side, which although is spending money on DIY tasks, having not to venture into spring compressors is well worth it. The spring is about 50% longer when it is off the car, which is a hell of a long way to compress the spring with those spring compressors. I've nearly lost a digit on 2 separate occasions and I now realize that I need them!
I hope that this is of some use.
