General The "well travelled" Barchetta

General The "well travelled" Barchetta

And the next day after crossing the whole of Austria the previous evening, only

takes about 1.5 hours ,it would have been rude not to visit Stuttgart and my 6th visit to Porsche museum.
It's not ridiculous to go to these museums multiple times ,when they have so many cars in reserve or they have a special exhibition on ,like here where they are celebrating 50 years of the 917 and also the same for the 914.

Pictured here ,original pink pig 917 ,last year's 911 RSR homage to it ,the original one and only 935 Moby Dick and the silver 914 is an "S" that had a V8 fitted in period....1 of 2.

It's time to come home but I took the opportunity ,whilst breaking up the long journey to visit The Museo Ferrari in Modena ,for the 5th time and then the Lamborghini factory museum in Sant Agata Bolognese for the 3rd time.

Ferrari 166 Inter.
750 Monza
250 Lusso
275 GTB
Monza SP1

Lamborghini LM002
Sesto Elemento
Centenario

The first Ferrari pic is not a 166 Inter ,can't remember what it is but this is the 166.

That's a very well travelled Barchetta you have there!

Also great photos.

I wouldn't mind owning one at some point when I have a bit more time.

What size trousers are you?

LOL.

Have a couple more pics.

34" waist

You have probably read about the day trip I took on 8th July to the Nurburgring to see the Ferrari Clienti XX cars on the Greenhell but this week had an unexpected "win".

Whilst browsing on Pistonheads on Thursday early afternoon ,a PH staffer opened a thread saying that 6 pairs of tickets for the Silverstone Classic ,earmarked for some guests had now become available and the first 6 members who posted would get them ,for free !

No brainer ,I was in there and 2 hours later I had an E ticket for yesterday ,Friday.

I got there at almost opening time of 7.30am and left at about 6.30pm.

Took the usual 100s of pics ,the racing pics are not great ,unsuitable camera and the size of the run off at Silverstone mean the cars are all a bit distant.

My car was outside in the visitors car park but I did see a very nice Y reg blue car in the show, in considerably better condition and lower mileage than mine too.

A couple of pics.

An Alfa 33TC ,a car I'd never heard of in this form.
A Lamborghini Espada with wheels off a Miura.
And a 911 /964 RS in Rubystone red or "Porsche pink"

The Silverstone classic really is huge and would recommend anyone to visit it and take 2 days to do it properly.
So many good races on the Sat/Sun and so many cars in the static show to look at.

Can you feel the tidal wave of envy flowing in your direction?!!!

Sounds like a great day out ... and a salutory reminder that I should keep a closer eye on Pistonheads (and not just on Fridays, for Shed of the Week!!)

I do spend rather a lot of time on there and it was pure luck I saw the thread.

I was surprised how long it took to give away 6 pairs of tickets but thread was in a fairly quiet area and some only look in their favourite forum areas.

I use "what's new" page to see what's going on and saw the word FREE...(y)

I wonder where you got that trousers question from ,but no they were never found.

Anyhoo ,last night got back from yet another Italy trip ,possibly my last.

Car has issues ,I have issues ,there are many issues.

Pics will follow whilst I sift through the usable from the delete worthy ones.

3838 miles were covered doing the following.

Drive up to top of Stelvio Pass ,well no one only goes up half way.

Down to Lake Garda to watch the Gran Premio du Nuvolari pass by.

Next day a little further south to watch same again at the Futa Pass ,near Mugello.
Next day ,up at 4am to drive to Monza for the Monza Historic.

Next weekend ,Ferrari Racing days at Imola circuit.
Day after to watch Alfa Romeo racing at Varano circuit AKA Ricardo Paletti circuit.
2 more days later .Tuesday ,Ferrari Clienti XX back to Imola ,same cars and more as the trip to the Ring but with old Formula 1 cars added too.

Next weekend ,the Rally Pistoia ,a minor event but some good cars entered.

And my final weekend ,near Verona for the Rally Due Valee....[2 Valleys] a round of the Italian rally championship ,plus Historic cars .

I spotted 5 Barchettas in Italy on this trip ,3 in the first 3 full days I was there.
2 red, a silver ,yellow and an orange Austrian reg car car in Lucca.

Just a small taster....

Next day a short trip down to the Passo della Futa ,which is near the

Barberino di Mugello ,near the Autostrade ,easy to get to.

Pic of the day.....one crew seemed it a good idea to overtake ,right before a corner.

When in Italy ,drive like the Italians !

I forgot to mention ,this was the day after ,the Sunday ,up at 4am to drive to
Monza for the Monza Historic ,cost to get in 14 Euros.

How much is Goodwood Revival ?

Don't seem to be able to do more pics ,will continue tomorrow.

Thanks again to Gar ,for liking my thread ,it means a lot....:)

I'm going to skip a few days and come back to the bit I missed out later.

On the Tuesday and Wednesday of the following week ,the Ferrari Clienti XX

programme was in Imola ,difference being from the Nurburgring that the Formula 1 cars are let loose here.....(y):slayer:

I'm not going to apologise for the number of pics of these I'm going to post ,I was happier with the quality of the pics from Italy ,there was also lots more cars than Germany ,seeing as Maranello is only about 50 miles away it's a no brainer.

A bit of scenery first ,a rare Panda van back and the sculpture and art at Imola circuit.

Now down to business.

These pics were taken from the Tosa grandstands which weren't open but after the Saturday when I found an "unofficial" way in ,I used the same again and the sole marshal wasn't bothered and nobody got thrown out.
