Lefty Greg came by today and went away with the petrol tank complete with pump and fittings and some fuel pipe and the centre console rear section /cubby box .

The last pic is of a sticker I found on the bottom of the gearlever .

Says on it ....Maggiora , the people who built it , and 28 MAG 1997 13.00, that being 28th May , possibly the day and time it was assembled.

I had previously used the VIN list on this site to find the build month for the car , so knew already it was a Maggio 1997 car .

The recycling of Fabio the FIAT has moved on again .

A forum member , who can remain anonymous if he wishes , don't think he's posted here before , came today for the driver's door , despite the state it's in due to some idiot and some stickers , the bootlid , literally the only panel not to get stickered as I put a yellow lid on the car to ruin .

He looked at my Mohair hood and decided that although there is a small hole in it , that it's way better than his , which he said is the original from 1997 , so he had that too , along with the seal that goes from A pillar to A pillar .

He went off to the local cashpoint for more £££ whilst I unbolted the entire hood with frame n bits .
6 bolts and 2 to remove the release handle to unlatch the cable .

I'm glad that so many large pieces are going to good homes and 3 cars have some good bits to replace old broken stuff .

He's new to the forum but a long term owner having bought the car when it was 6 months old in 1997 .

:):D:cool:(y)

Thanks for the parts! Fitted the Hood & boot lid on Saturday, they're a great great improvement!! The door is a bigger project, may wait until the summer's over before replacing it :) Also will try to dig out pics of a trip I made in '98. visited the Magiora factory in Chivaso half way up a mountain, where the body shells were made & the Alfa factory in Milan where the interior & mechanical parts were fitted. The body shells were sprayed in a Bertone factory before reaching Milan. Thanks again

After giving up and having almost no interest in attending events n stuff this year , I looked at Brands Hatch's website and saw the promo for Festival Italia .

I went to this in Fabio the FIAT twice ,can't remember which years , I saaw tht there was only 4 spaces for FIATs left available and submitted an entry for the Minty but crap Seicento .Display cars get a 1/2 price entry for the driver but they first have to approve my entry ,it's not exactly the most interesting car ever . It is an unusual colour though .

If I get an entry , I will put lots of the Barchetta parts in the back and try to offload some at the show , including the red Alfa Romeo 155 wheels , even try and sell the Sei , 10 days before the MOT runs out .

Fingers crossed I get approved .

You have to submit a picture of your car too , I sent this one .

Good luck reproducing that look in the flesh (in the metal?) in mid-August - although judging by the current weather, it's not beyond the bounds of possibility!

This wasn't worth a whole new thread or a post in the Spotted forum but I saw a Silver Grigio Barchetta on the Giro D' Italia highlights earlier .

It was a helicopter shot from above and I couldn't possibly have not recognised the distinctive separate light units .

It was just as the bicyclist blokes had re-entered Italy from Switzerland on the Spluga pass .

In a normal year that could have been me ,I saw signs for the Giro on my May trip of 2019 near Pistoia , though I didn't go back to that road to watch . I had better things to do , like sleep or watching the Italian RAI news 24 with the pretty Italian newsreaders .....:yeahthat:

As the important part of the cam cover has moved to Essex , I did this to the piece that covers the coils and plugs .

I used some emulsion match pots I had spare , not exactly painted to Caravaggio's standard but okay to hang on the wall .

Nice to think that you have a souvenir of your B to put on the wall.

I kept the offside doors of my yellow 2CV when it went to the scrapper. They are hanging on the wall of my garage. It went to the scrapper because the garage - which is an old cartshed - collapsed on top of it in a gale in the early 1990s, but tbh the car was pretty knackered by then anyway. It's nice to think that part of it lives on. It was 40 last year.

I'm not short of souvenirs off the car .

I have the ridiculous sticker bombed bootlid , I managed to salvage about 6 of the stickers on the rest of the bodywork ,out of the dozens I peeled off it . and stuck them to a piece of shiny cardboard .

I also managed to peel off 6 out of 7 of the Austrian vignettes stuck in the windscreen and stuck them to a small piece of clear perspex .

Today was supposed to be the day I went from owning 2 Fiats to no Fiats .
I had arranged a scrap collection company to collect 2 cars , Fabio the Fiat and Minty the hopeless Seicento .

Lorry eventually turned up , with room for 1 car on the spec lift on the back , 7.5 T lorry with 3 other cars already on it .

As the Seicento is about to run out of MOT , tax and insurance and is parked in the street , they took that one and left Fabio in the garage it's been in for almost 13 months now .

Waiting for a reply for when they can come back for a sad convertible with half the car missing .

:eek::mad:(n)
