Boys just don't grow up.... The toys just get more expensive.... ;)

Well, Roger had the car today. The car was boost spiking a lot!! anyway, we put a manual control on and it has cut the spiking, but the one he had was faulty and not allowing full boost so one on order should arrive shortly and he will fit.
He also replaced the idle control valve with another used one. I think its actually worse than mine. Is there anyway to clean my one up? How much is a brand new one?
Found the leak in my aircon which is the top pipe which runs across the top of the rad. Ordered one of those.
Final thing to be done (mechanically) is the rocker gasket as it is seeping a little bit of oil.

So back next friday to get the rocker cover, boost control, aircon pipe (and charge). Just the idle control valve would be nice to have sorted, but I am not paying £200 for a new one and used ones are hit and miss.

Well it's either buy second hand or New I'm afraid. Could try Joe/Countrycruising to see if he's a working second hand one. I'd just bite the bullet, sometimes you have to grin and bear it unfortunately! My EBV is allowing spiking to 1.5 Bar, it's only for about 1/8 of a second, but it's not good for the clutch. I've got a couple of EBV's so I'll replace until one actually works and fixes it!
My Aircon had a leak in that pipe so we replaced it, then the condenser itself was leaking, so I thought ****** to it, I'll change it in the summer. Not much use for it at the moment. The rocker covers always leak. Usually at the top where the bolts go in on the left and right hand side, it's very easy to over-tighten them and cause a crack. I had mine welded and it's been fine.
You see, it's all common coupé faults :D

Yeah. I might just bite the bullet and buy a new idle control valve. I've just cleaned out my old one and will ask roger to put it back in and see if that solves the problem. It was clogged in soot which really couldn't of done it any good!

The boost I am less worried about. Do I really need an electronic boost controller? The manual one is probably more reliable and I'd set it to limit the boost at 1bar. Eventually I might get an electronic one if I feel the need and have the extra cash.

Any point in replacing the boost dump valve? I've seen some on the web that make a bigger woosh sound, but I don't really care for that myself.

The plastic fiat dump valves are pants and it is a good idea to change it IMO to an aftermarket one.
It is the vent to atmosphere valves such as the Bailey's DV26 that make that awful, chavvy noise ;)
If you want less of a "phooosh" noise, fit a Forge DV006 which is a really nice piece of kit as well as being a recirc valve so there are no MAF issues either.
A reason to fit an electronic boost controller would be if you planned on using different boost levels on the fly and they do have the advantage of normally having a boost gauge/ display incorporated.
I have 6 settings on mine which range from 0.6 to 1.35 Bar and I can dial them in from my car seat

Thanks for all that. I think a manual boost control is perfect as I have no intention of tuning the car. Plus it's cheap.
As for the dump valve (not the one that goes whoosh), where is a good place to order one. Are they difficult to fit?

Piece of p*ss to fit. Just remove the solid plastic pipe to the right of the cam cover, two bolts (10 or 13mm?) and have fun removing the Fiat jubilee clips (!) and it's attached to the bottom. Another jubilee clip or two and you'll see it, plastic black bosch jobby. Just replace it for the Forge and you're done. I'd buy one second hand from ebay or place a wanted on the coupé forum, you'll get one for £50 or less. Just give it a good clean and blow it with WD40 as they sometimes get a bit gunked up and stick for the first couple of hours use after being off the car :)

I just looked at their web site and it is a very similar price. I may order one and ask roger to fit it while I'm there on Friday. I've spent so much money, that I am thinking of holding off on it thats all.

Edit: Not the same price. It's about 20% more expensive as you need to add VAT to the £86 that it is on the web. I will order it from the ebay link.

Had a new alarm fitted today. The one I had just didn't work and its not as simple as the Meta ones as its an italian car with a different alarm system.

Nice having a remote to operate the central locking. Must now remember to spray WD40 in the locks before any cold snaps! ;-)

Happy for you :)
ps....for the sake of a few extra quid, get the Forge DV006.
It will last forever and you will also have no problem selling it on if needs be.
Glad it seems to be coming together for you.

That's the one I was looking at.
As a matter of interest, what are the symptoms of a dodgy waste?

Not sure mate but if you need an answer to any coupe question that the rest of us can't answer....PM NigelO.
From my experience on a forum I used to be a member of....he really knows his stuff and is a nice guy as well...very helpful :)

Well the ups and downs continue. Some downs, but then again a nice little up.

First the downs. I am spending a few more pounds and putting in new spark plugs, fitting a boost gauge, new lambda sensor, cleaning the MAF sensor, rocker gasket and plug seals, installing a forge DV0006 dump valve. Need new headlights to convert to UK specs.

Upside. Turns out that while my car was manufactured in 1999, the date of first registration is 2001. Guess the car was either in the showroom for a while, or with Fiat for a while. Either that or the year of manufacture is wrong. The date of first registration is on some paperwork I have and when I took it for an MOT that date came up when they entered the chassis number. Weird, but I'm not complaining as when my UK reg documents come through it will have 2001 plates!

Another up, is I now have my AC working in the car. ;-)

Thought I would update. Registered it in the uk Car running great. Love it. ;)
Just got a quote of £500 to fix my bonnet bodywork as well as the bumper and front skirts.
Here ends my spending.... Well after I fit the hid lights. ;)

Wait till you start the "I WANT MORE POWER" phase of coupe ownership .
That is when it starts getting really expensive :D
Standard is nice but you soon get used to it and no matter how much power you have, you always want more.

I have been warned about that. ;)
Sticking to gtec 1 chip for the short/medium term.
I now want to get it looking perfect. Hence £500 on fixing the front up.
My insurance came in at £1350 which stings too. ;)
