The quick question thread

You know how much the trailer weighs

Tbh your probably right and not worth the risk, I though it was a little camping trailer or something

The only number I can remember is 1800cwt but I have absolutely no idea if that's anything to do with it - converting that to kg's doesn't equate to anything that could be remotely trailer-ish!

We used to pull the caravan with a 1600 F reg cavalier and I know that was well within the cars towing weights. Doesn't help me work it out though (n)

I've been trying to wade through the guff on DVLA / VOSA sites and still can't work out what I can legally tow with my landy :(

was that the plated weight with the whole caravan on top?

I honestly can't remember - unfortunately when the ali was nicked from our garden the theiving scum nicked the plate too and a load of other random bits of trailer trim (red triangles, old number plate etc). Will google the make and model of caravan for info.....................

EDIT: Google is my friend! The caravan was a Thomson T-line Glendale MAM of 17.5 CWT which is about 890kg

According to this: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/DriverLicensing/CaravansTrailersCommercialVehicles/DG_10013073

Category B: Vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes MAM and with up to eight passenger seats
Category B vehicles may be coupled with a trailer up to 750kgs MAM (allowing a combined weight up to 4.25 tonnes MAM) or a trailer over 750kgs MAM provided the MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen weight of the towing vehicle, and the combination does not exceed 3.5 tonnes MAM.

So my landy has an unladen weight of near as damned it 2000kg so therefore I could tow up to 1500 kg's???? but the MAM of both would be 3050 + 1500 = 4550 which is over the 4250

So if I look at the MAM of the landy I can only tow a trailer with a MAM of 450kg to keep within 3.5t or if you take the 4.25 I can tow 1200kg

Why does the government have to make it so grey..... oh wait so thousands of people pay for B+E when there's probably no need?

Depends...whats the link? ;)

well its more like a few threads, and hours staring at images of Eaton superchargers squeezed into the astra engine bays..

I'll find out the best and link it...

some of the stuff is just plain naughty

EDIT.. A video of the Eaton M45 supercharger in a Corsa 1.8.. the same engine as my Astra and a smaller engine bay...
