a "classic" as featured in todays independant.....

However, the evidence for their longevity is more than just anecdotal. Official DVLA registration statistics reveal that 96,421 Micra K10s are on our roads, out of a UK sales total of 343,411 between 1983 and 1992. So 28 per cent - more than a quarter - of all K10s sold here are still in use.

On its own, that may not seem impressive. But contrast it with the Micra's peers, and it's a survivor of cockroach toughness.

Of the Austin/Rover Metro, with 1,370,000 sold between 1980 and 1994, 21,468 are still on the go - that's 1.6 per cent. Of the Ford Fiesta Mk1 and 2, with 1,292,669 sold between 1976 and 1989, 43,878 are still in use - 3.3 per cent. Of the first-generation Fiat Uno, 190,000 were sold between 1983 and 1989, and 5,179 of them are still standing - 2.7 per cent.

5179!!!! better get my skates on and go for 5180.....

Only surviving because nobody dare show their face in a Mk1 Micra..

"I've had it since new and I've never had a car that's given me such value for money,"

That love is because you've never bought another car for 18 years.. If you only buy one car of couse it's going to give you the best value for money....

sad lady

i would prefer a golf cart to a nissan micra. for speed and comfort. even in the rain a golf cart would offer more heat and comfort than a nissan micra does.

the new ones....they look as ugly as anything (with the toyota yaris and the citroen c2, not far behind on the ugly scale, so glad that fiat actually makes good looking cars.) you would have to be off your head to even consider riding around in nissan micra.

the original micra was a great car,.
The later ones were cr*p and the new one, i was on my way back from chester in one,a 2004 at 90mph comming down hill towards this big tunnel, then started to come to a slight up hill and it dropped to 60.,.,pmsl., its a cr*py car and the bumpers are made of some of the softest plastics ive ever seen on a car., i was washing it with a karcher power washer and the paint started to fall off.,.,lol

and err, fiat arent exactly the kings of style either.,lol
im not a fanboy, i like all kinds of cars., fiat have had some fugly ones., the multipla!!, .what were they thinking.,??.,lol

Not surprise there, loads of my mates have had old Micras and they all seem invincible, plus parts are dirt cheap so it's easy to keep 'em going :)

I have had 4 K10 nissan micras, very nice cars i think, better built than most other cars of its age,

bodykit is all standard factory fitted, engine was only a 1.2 which was the only reason i had it cause i couldnt insure anything else at the time. however it was about as quick as my mates 1242 cinq sporting and it didnt break down! handled far better too.

nissan made a special edition called the K10 Super S 1.2 and its a very rare find, has the same engine as the normal micra but has much better black interior, very nice seats, rev counter, full bodykit and spoiler,

I wanna get another some day and drop a nice 2.0 16v engine in it :)

If you wanted a super charged, and turbo charged car from that era.. you would get yourself an S4 and be done with it.

If you have the cash, then maybe. However, you're comparing a group B rally car to something based on what was originally a runabout car.

hellcat no offence but u sound like a moron

In what way can you call someone a moron without meaning offence? That one I'd like to know.

The micra is a bland, boring looking car without any sort of soul. Putting a big (well big bhp), fast engine in it doesn't make it a good car. Just means its a good 1/4 mile car which makes it popular with morons like Americans, who don't comprihend the subtle and fine art of going around corners.

Why super and turbo? Why not simply bigger engine? The modern golf 1.4 super/turbo has proven even now the system isn't working. The S4 is one of the few cars I know which actually made the system work, of course using the great skills of the Abarth team.

a 930cc engine is not a big engine. its smaller than a one litre!

well when i was looking for my first car after i had passed my test i wanted a uno but the non turbo models are pretty poor, there slow and look crap, that when i came across a k10 micra super s, it was far better than a uno had factory fitted bodykit and really nice interior, i could insure it as it was a 1.2 with 60bhp.

I loved every minute of driving it, it never let me down, was excellant on fuel, quicker than simular engine'd cars and looked really nice. if i could go back in time there still isnt any doubt i would still have bought a micra.

they used a 930cc supercharged and turbocharged engine for rallying so it could be used in a certain class,

You gotta remember that this car was designed and built for the Japanese market. They have different rules regarding cars compared to cars over here - look at the K class - tiny engines only are allowed, so sticking a larger lump in there wouldn't work - it'd be in a different class. Also, there may have been problems getting their larger engines to fit, or sorting out the suspension - I don't know, I didn't design the chassis :p

wel, maybe not a moron, but definately a text book fanboy.:p ,.,lol
Id have the micra over any uno, its obviously a lot more reliable and it looks better.,(y)

The multipla is an excellent car. Way ahead of its time.

Some say it's ugly.. others think it's awesome.
it may be an "excellent" car, but that doesnt change the fact that its a Fugly car.,lol

id love to have them micra's you've had there oldskool., cant really get them over here anymore.,(n)
