Yes your thermostat may be sloppy and opening too much/ too soon and not allowing engine to reach normal temperature. Sure sounds like that.
Glad your rad fan is working, nice to know it's going to kick in when required:)

Oil filler cap left off will make a hell of a mess and then drool down the engine so if it didnt make a real mess then it's probably not that

When you accelerate a modern engine and then try to hold revs steady it'll go from closed loop at tickover to open loop whilst accelerating and back to closed loop at steady revs so revs will waver a bit under ecu management. Does that make sense? If not do a Google on O2 sensors

For "accelerator pedal information intermittent" I'd expect things like drop outs and dead areas when accelerating etc

Thanks for replying again, Decks. You'll have to start charging me at this rate...:D

Yeah, it's good news about the rad fan. Like you say, it's good to know that it'll kick in when required... also, I'm glad the climate control is kicking it on with the compressor, I was worried there might be something wrong there as well!

Thankfully, the oil filler cap being off didn't make a mess, just a few spots of oil but that was it... so I'm pretty certain that wasn't the cause of the oil drips. It must be something else so I'm going to have to keep an eye on it. For your info, the leak appears to have came from the back edge of the engine tray...

Thanks for the tip about the O2 sensor. I Wiki'ed it and it explained the "Closed Loop" mode which makes perfect sense to me now and would seem to explain it. The engine revs perfectly and the car accelerates really well, so I don't think there's a real issue there then (y)

Thanks again Decks, you're a star! :D
