Re: First to second gear

go by the book.
i knew the service intervals were 30k!
begs the question though, what was your local dealer quoting for?!

What about the oil changes though?? So I'd still have to go every 15k for that wouldn't I or is that every 30k as well?

I suppose I should send her another email to tell her she's wrong...in a nice way. I can say I know someone who owns a GP and I had a look at the book :p

I can't see how I should be paying $500 for an oil change and then $900 for the real service, that's ridiculous!

Re: First to second gear

agreed!
however, read the ** bit next to the 15k service for oil and it does say that certain conditions need this. a light will come on the dash from the Particulate filter to tell you an oil change is needed.
my guy doing 70k per year hasnt had that light and he did his first service at 30k with no issues whatsoever

Thanks for the help mate, much appreciated (y)

Looks like somebody needs to get her facts right, I'll send her another email and see what happens. Seriously, the world needs more salespeople like you around :)

I'll keep you guys updated.

An Englishman wanted to become an Irishman, so he visited a doctor to find out how to go about this. "Well" said the doctor, "this is a very delicate operation and there is a lot that can go wrong. I will have to remove half your brain". "That's OK" said the Englishman. "I've always wanted to be Irish and I'm prepared to take the risk".
The operation went ahead but the Englishman woke to find a look of horror on the face of the doctor. "I'm so terribly sorry!!" the doctor said. "Instead of removing half the brain, I've taken the whole brain out". The patient replied, "No worries, mate!!"
:D

Walking through the bush Gary and Griff came across a dingo licking its privates. After watching for a few minutes Griff said to Gary, "Just between you and me, I've wanted to do that all my life." A bemused Gary looked at him and said, "Go ahead mate, but I'd pat him first. He looks pretty vicious to me."
:D

Two Aussies are adrift in a lifeboat. While rummaging through the boat's provisions one of them finds an old lamp. He rubs the lamp and a genie suddenly appears. This genie tells them that he only grants one wish.
Without giving much thought to the matter, the lamp finder blurts out, "Turn the entire ocean into beer!"
The genie claps his hands with a deafening crash, and immediately the entire sea turns into beer.
The genie disappears and only the gentle lapping of beer on the hull breaks the stillness as the two men considered their circumstances.
The second Aussie turns to the first and says, "Nice going mate! Now we're going to have to pee in the boat."
:D

(please note the above joke do not represent the views of the GP mod.....he just thought they were funny:D )

Well someone has a creative mind to come up with a title like that, must have taken you a while T...:p

Anyway this should be easier to keep track of things, I'll try to post relevant information in the appropriate thread for now on :)

BTW nice jokes...

few hours:eek:

Thought so ;)

T, what's your opinion on these 20k service intervals "Due to our changing climate"? Does it really make much difference or is it just a ploy by Fiat Oz to make more money from servicing?

I prefer "The flying kangaroo (no not the Qantas takeover bid), the annoying GP & the retarded-looking platypus" :D

How about

" Fiat Grande Punto Dualogic problems faults judder reverse clank "?

It just that its such an interesting thread and if key words like that were in the title/thread it may attract and alert others others to ( with) the problem as its picked up by search engines..

Whoops......

Hope its all sorted for you soon luvduvs, but the Aus/NZ perspective is great and I`m looking forward to more of that.
( and to part 3 of the trilogy that T has promised(y)

Reverse clank is normal, remember you have a hydraulic system selecting the gears for you.

I think this is known worldwide already!

Yes..........i'm looking foward to it:rolleyes:

You are right.
Australian built cars like Fords and Holdens have short maintenance intervals.

Europeans and Japanese seem to have longer intervals
Peugeot has as well 20'000km intervals (costs about $600)
Fiat Punto has small service intervals at 15'000, 45'000... ($400)
and big service intervals a every 30'000 km ($600)
While I had a Punto in Switzerland I did the small services myself.

Australian car services may be cheaper, but you have to go more often.

Fords and Holdens may be cheaper to buy, but running costs of these
petrol guzzlers are just too high.
Over a typical 30'000km year I paid $4500 for the Holden station wagon,
$2000 for my actual Peugeot HDi and with the ordered Punto 1.3JTD Dualogic less again (~$1500).

beat the fuel prices and buy smart cars :)

Well the extemely high servicing costs are one of the reasons why I have decided not to purchase a Grande Punto. $500 every 20,000km is absolutely insane, and depreciation will be high because not many people are buying them.

With my extreme distance travelling, it would not be financially viable for me. So it looks like I'll have to look into something more "Common"...

That's a bummer man.. :(

Seriously why aren't there any other Oz GP owners on this forum?

I know, sorry Kev :(

That doesn't mean I don't like the car anymore though, I still like them I just can't have one. Who knows, maybe in 5 years time Fiat will be well established in Oz and things will be a lot better.

I pass a white GP almost every morning on the way to work and a black one on the way back. One is driven by an older lady and one is driven by a younger one, I think they might be the only other two owners in the country :p
