Well, I've come to the conclusion that my Multiwagon has gone over to the occult ! After fixing loads of issues, it now believes that firstly the outside temperature is way below zero - hopefully no problem as long as I can find how to take off the drivers mirror and find a replacement thermistor.

But the second and more worrying thing is that it believes that the rear door is open !!!
The door release works just fine, and the rear cargo area light goes on and off just like it should. I can only find two sets of wires to the lock mechinism so all seems fine - yet it still says the rear doors open when it goes through the start up checks and beeps it's head off at me when I start driving.

Anyone any ideas, it's doing me head in !!1:bang:

My rear door was displaying the same symptoms. Unfortunately superseded by the demise of my fusebox. As soon as I am back on the road I will see if I can sort it but I will obviously watch how you get on too!

As least your Multiwagon can be driven!

HAD THE SAME THING THE OTHER DAY WITH THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT STAYING ON AFTER A FLAT BATTERY....DISCONNECTED FOR AN HOUR OR SO AND reconnected battery and LIGHT HAS GONE OUT ,NO MORE ANNOYING BEEP ENGINE FAULT !!

Tried battery off for 30mins, no joy other than resetting all normal bits - will try longer time. Also will try clean / lubrication and see if that helps.

Thanks for all replys.
It's a great car - normally, just bugs me when it gets taken over by the dark lord haha !!!

Stripped it all down again, found microswitch bit of lock assembly cracked - will try a replacement and report back when done.

Glad to hear that you found a likely source of the problem. I managed to get my Mulitiwagon home under its own steam today thanks to a new fusebox. Unfortunately the starter motor is not working any more :( so it will still be a while before I get onto the mystery of the phantom boot light switch!

Well I thought i'd follow up with the conclusion. Fitting a replacement lock assembly to the tailgate has indeed cured the problem (y)

I can only think that although all was working fine, there was just enough residual resistance in the microswitch contacts to make the system think it was open.

Anyway, a result.

Now it's just left to work out how to remove the small door panel behind the mirror to try and find the connection for the temperature sender

Thanks all for advice.

Hi mhowse

Yes disconnected door connector (readings went to ---) cleaned and replaced - still 12.5c low reading.
I think there maybe another connector off the door mirror harness itself, hence waning to remove the little speaker panel and look there.
If i can find that and it doesn't fix then it's down to a mirror strip. Finding the equivalent part will be easy, it's the mechanical which gets me :)

if your carefull you could pop the mirror glass off the wing mirror although when last changed my mirror glass do not remember if there was a connector to the temp sensor, nor know either if there is a way of testing the sensor i.e resistance reading, if you do decide to take mirror glass off maybe sensible to know first if you can get a replacement glass rather quick should you crack it on removal what with time of seasonal year and postage time with bank holidays n stuff

Cheers for the glass tip, think with all the cold weather probably coming it isn't a good idea to play with old brittle plastics etc for the time being.
Once i get to the sensor connectons i will substitute it with components to find the normal value and then get a replacement from RS or Farnell, or Ebay to fit.

Cheers for all
Kelvin
