Oh, yes. I have used silicone exclusively in my competition cars for years. It doesn't boil, it doesn't corrode, and its non flammable.

Cheers

That's true up to a point. However the dry boiling point of DOT 5.1 fluid exceeds that of silicone (just), a proper motorsport fluid exceeds 5.1.

Silicone gives you a longer pedal because it is much more compressable. It is also immisible with water so if you get some water contamination it sits around in the braking system rather than mixing with the fluid. When using Glycol brake fluid water contamination causes gradual reduction in its performance, with silicone it sits around as water, and thefore boils at 100 degrees centigrade. Water contamination is common, the system must be vented to air.

Its your choice, but I reckon its a bad choice for all sorts of reasons in competion, use glycol and change it regualarly.

Eh, no actually. I am taking it over to Robinsons at Cambuslang. The boys over there do stuff with Magnetti Marelli, on bikes unfortunately, but they are a bit more up to speed on NA cars.

Cheers

Ah Robinsons tuning on Hamilton Road, Halfway Cambuslang? if so they have been there for years, they are only a 1min walk from my Dads house, used them many years ago to set up Webber 40's on my MK1 XR2.

Didn't know that they had rollers now, I remember when it was just a small unit.

Aaron.

lol is said to the housemate it looked a bit dodgy doing a deal there.mind you if we had done it at night we could have the prosi's for company ;)

Is that where they are, wouldn't have known without your, obviously, extensive knowledge of the subject.

I was there on Thursday night, at a gig in the ferry, and didn't notice any professional ladies

Another busy night with electrics. Lamp pod fitted and wired up with relays and stuff. One of the lights didn't work, duff bulb, I'll change that tomorrow.

Got the steel tube to make a new sumpguard bracket and am expecting the proforma invoice in for the ECU tomorrow.

Cheers

So you're holding off the rolling road until the new management's on?

John

Now I've taken the big breath, and removed the engine wiring loom, and hacked it about. Scary or what.

Now I have to find a place to mount my nice new ECU and start the job of wiring the whole thing up.

I've got a bit of a handle on the actual engine wiring, but I have to work out how to connect it to the likes of the rev counter and fuel pump.

Wish me luck.

Cheers

Sounds like you've got a plan though.

Good to meet you today, thanks for the tailgate, you're in credit for one fibreglass version once production rolls into life!

Cheers, John
