Temperature reading....

Have had a reliable and relatively economic 1.4 for a couple of years.

This has kind of crept up on me, the temp gauge user to always sit at halfway, now it wavers mainly between 1/4 and half. Wondering if there is something wrong with the cooling system or the sender.

Coolong system never flushed by myself, thermostat has never been looked at, electric cooling fan doesn't permanently run, heater always heats interior when asked to do so. Temp reading noticably drops on a long 'coasting' downhill.

Has anyone any tips in what order to tackle this, or any experience of this problem?

Does the fan kick in at high temps?

...cheers Tom, just needed someone else to confirm that before I spend my few pennies. The fan does kick in when the engine actually gets hot.

Cool just cause mine doesnt at the mo so been going through the process etc. But my thermostst does work buy my relays dont! And would have pointed you in to my post for problem solving etc.
