Hi all,
I've been having some issues with me Fiat Grande Punto 1.4 06.
After the 25+ degree day we had here, the check engine light came on and I notice the temperature gauge wasn't moving on the dash as well as the car just didn't seem to be a 'nippy'.

Once I got home, the radiator fan continued to stay on even after the engine was turned off. After popping the bonnet, I notice that there is more coolant that I originally put in.

Does anyone have any idea as to what the issue is? and if so how to fix it?

Water expands when warming-up so it's normal that the level is higher when engine's hot, that's why there is an expansion reservoir.
Regarding the fan, it is also normal that it keeps on running even when the contact is off if it was triggered correctly.
What is not right is the temp gauge not showing-up.

I believe the temp sensor get bad, so the ECU detected Something wrong with it and as a safety strategy decided to go in limp mode, lit the EML and turn the fan ON to prevent overheating since it doesn't know what the water temp actually is ...
Replace the sensor and you should be fine.

BRs, Bernie
