Ive just been told my tailgate struts are in at Shop4Parts and they have at least one other set available today if anyone else is searching as I was. £26 + the pair.

EDIT
All fitted and working nicely. In spite of the instructions included which were not of any relevance to anything on this planet.

The only thing it said was test them before fitting. Anywaylong and short of that was at 69 years old (nearly) I could not compress either of the new struts at all however hard I tried. Did they work ???

Fitting instructions.
The tailgate requires support as soon as one of the struts is removed. I worked in my garage and roped it ujp from above, other wise an assistant will be needed.
Carefully lever up the retaining clips and remove the strut entirely. You will see in the end of each strut a curved slot that allows the clip to be placed over / on the end of the strut and tapped on.
Get each clip into this groove but not into the retaining groove slop. The tap the clip into the curved groove, i.e. down wards until it just sits in place in the slop but not in its groove.
Grease the cup ends with lithium grease and push onto the ball fixings. Tap the clip into place (tap the end of the strut gently with a hammer until the clip slides into its place).
Note With the tailgate end of each strut I used fine nosed pliers, held on the clip, and tapped them with the hammer to ensure I was clear of the glass which otherwise covers the strut ends.
Bash a few fingers and get hit on the head by the tailgate a few times.
Feel free to swear as much as you like.
