Hi Liam
Thanks for reply I cant find a name it tells me I have a virus and offers software to cure it when I open the rogue flashing alert I go to a web page called;
AntivirusGolden.com/aid=1338 This is full of their rubbish to buy of course.
Macafee says I dont have a virus.
This thing I have got seems to be attached to my dialer or to explorer since it shows itself when I go on the net.
any Help many thanks
Clive

Have a look at this page:http://www.dslreports.com/faq/13935. I've had something like this before where it hijacks your home page and has these pop ups. If it looks similar then follow exactly what it says to do. It is quite time consuming to get rid of it though. Took me a couple of hours.

Thanks to everone who helped with my problem. I used the Smitfraud route to the solution and I have not seen the warnings for three days now
