Hi All

I have a few questions about the suspention on my 1.6 5 door stilo.
I just had my shocks checked cause lately I have been driving around and the bottom of my car scraps on bumps that it never did before. My shocks are sitting at 60 % life all round and I can't think why its scraping all of a sudden. I have hit a pothole quiet hard a few months back and that bent my rims a bit:cry: I have checked the springs for any breaks and could not see any. Is there a special way to check the springs and to check if the shocks are not bent?

Any help is welcome

Cheers(y)

Shock absorbers don't govern the ride height of the car, the springs do that. It's normal for springs to compress (sag) over time and this would be aggravated if you drive on bumpy roads.

When I bought my Stilo MW it was often hitting speed bumps and I discovered that the previous owner's garage had fitted the wrong springs to the car. I fitted the correct, new front spiings to cure the problem.

Dave.

Thanks for that dave (y)

I will get the springs sorted out cause that makes the most sense. Do you have any after market springs that you recomend?

Cheers

I only use genuine Fiat parts for suspension components although other members have reported success with after market parts.

The springs that were fitted to my car were the wrong ones because they were from an after market supplier that listed the same springs for all Stilo versions. The correct Fiat springs differ according to model and engine version.

Dave.

Hi Rowena.

My car does not have those gaurds:cry: Got it that way unfortunatly could not be bothered with them thou.

Davren, thanks will use the OEM springs, rather be safe than sorry.
Hopefully the car wont be so " wobby " on the road when replaced.
