Despite reading most/all of the other posts on Keys.

In my case I only have one Key which locks the door and starts the engine, meaning (to me) that the mechanical cut and the immobiliser chip must work. The Key itself can flash its little red light, but it doesn't remotely unlock the car. Although sometimes when manually unlocking the drivers door, the windows magically fully open.

So, what I want is to have a second Key which also mechanically unlocks and starts the engine. To then have both Keys do all that, and remotely lock/unlock the car would be icing on the cake :D.

I would be happy to send the Key off to whoever does the work, if I was confident that they wouldn't lose it or break it, as I would then be stuffed. Unfortunately doing a 'Google' search says loads of people can do it, but that doesn't give me confidence that they would do a really good job.

Consequently, could some kind soul here point me in the direction of a Auto-locksmith type person who they have had dealings with, and who can be trusted to do a good job ?

Ta :)

So the key won't unlock the car just off the fob, it only unlocks if you do it manually by inserting the key ?

If that is the case then the key has just come uncoded from the car, you'll need your security code and someone with MES to re-code it to the car so it unlocks on the fob.

Does happen sometimes (usually if fob battery is low), happened to mine so had to redo it.

Dont assume the key has "just come uncoded".
Take the remote key to a good autolocksmith and get them to check for a signal.

We charge £150+ for a Fiat remote key.
Unfortunately the we would need the car for 10mins.

Absolutely:), which is why I asked if anybody knew such a person

The fact that the windows go down means that the car is getting some kind of signal from the fob, I believe the windows go down if you either double press or long press the unlock button (@Zeewulf can you confirm?), they should go back up if you do the same with the lock button. I'd suggest that whatever the connection is between the receiver and the central locking relay is, is likely the culprit here

Long press opens or closes windows depending on whether your pressing lock/unlock.

The lock is probably kinda stuck, so the car thinks you are unlocking the doors for too long - so it opens windows.
You can buy used key with remote control for cheap, but you would need to program both remotes and new immo chip. They wanted 50 pounds here to program immo. But you can start without it if you know the code

I tend to agree, which is why I recommended taking the remote to an autolocksmith 1st.

The 'window opening' only happened occasionally, and despite playing with the buttons to try to make it happen, it only ever randomly opened them, and never closing them. In fact it seemed more of a result of the key being twisted to unlock, rather than anything else.

Unfortunately while seeking answers on the Key, I though I would get a quick MoT, to which they had the cheek to fail it . Some Welding needed underneath which I would have done myself, but a mixture of other issues meant I've left it with them to do, and won't get it back til middle of next week.

Called Hadleigh with a view to bringing it to your place as I thought I would be coming by London and have the car this weekend, now not happening

Tried the advice to use the 'Advance Diagnostic' website to find a more local 'auto-locksmith', but I can't access the 'find a UK locksmith' window as it only gives me a '404 error' :(

So, in the absence of being able to take the car to somewhere/one who could provide a new key and hopefully make my existing one be able to lock/unlock as well, I though I would start the ball rolling by buying a spare key.

The spare key I've bought seems to have all its internals, but will need a specialist for the cutting, the immobiliser chip, and the remote locking function.

To progress further after looking carefully at my existing key I see that it does have A602 cut into the stock of the blade. Can anyone confirm if this is the famous 4 figure FIAT code that I need ? Ta :)

I think you have 2 choices if you want a working spare remote.
1. I can come to you and programme in the remote you probably bought from ebay.
2. Or as I've told you, find someone local to you. I would guess if you find someone locally to do the job, they would still charge if programming was unsuccessful due to the remote being a cheap copy from china.

The security programming code is not stamped on the key.

Thanks for the link to the ALA, I've now found just the place, once they're 'open' again :)
