Hello, I have a problem with my sunroof.

On the way to Cardiff, I had the sunroof open, as I was closing it coming off the motorway it got stuck just over half way. Since I was parking in a multi-story I didn't want to leave it open so me and friend had to physically force it shut by pushing it forward.

I took it to a garage who greased it up but they said that I would need to take it to a Fiat Dealership which would cost £73 for 1 hours labour! After the garage greased it up, it is possible to open it.

When I push the switch in the car to pull the sunroof back, the rear of the sunroof does not drop so it doesn't go anywhere, however, if I push the back of the sunroof down whilst pushing the switch it will go back. The problem is that it's not dropping to get under the roof.

It works fine when I use the switch to close it although there's a period where it's nearly closed that the motor runs but the sunroof doesn't go anywhere, only for a few seconds until it finally closes itself.

If anyone can help with getting the sunroof to drop on opening to allow it to slide under the roof I'd be grateful, really don't wanna pay the dealership rip-off prices.

Thanks

this maybe a silly answer, try taking the whole sunroof out and having a look at the rollers, or maybe some parts could be ceased, rust can possibly cause it to stutter a bit and to stop it working to its full potential of course

Chris.

looking through the punto handbook it shows a way of mannualy opening closing the sunroof with a screw driver, you can download it from this site on the frequently asked questions, i too am having a problem with the sun roof but that the swith or possibly the motor doesnt work

The switch for the sunroof used to control it in two directions, one way would raise the sunroof at the rear and the other would slide it under the roof to open fully. When I push the switch to raise the rood, it does but doesn't stop and the actual sunroof starts to slide over the outside of the rood :S It goes up but starts sliding over the roof now :S

To open it fully, I have to push down on the back of the glass so that it will slide under. The motor is fine and working, I tried using the manual key that comes with it under the interior light but it doesn't do anything about the roof not dropping.
