Hi, my wives 2008 Fiat 500 has suddenly started asking for a code for the radio, we have never had a code card.
I've made a donation, if that helps.
What info do you need? Is it the VIN number?
I'd rather not try to remove the radio, unless it is easy to do.
Thanks
Your other post on this subject is in the correct place; I'm sure @Davren will be along to deal with it in due course. He'll tell you what additional information he needs.
In the meantime, try disconnecting the battery for ten miunutes or so, then reconnecting. The radio code is also stored in the car's body computer, and that might just be enough to reset things if they've got out of sync. The radio normally resets automatically when the battery is replaced, providing it's the original radio that was fitted in the factory, so you don't normally need the radio code to change the battery.
The code card might be in the document wallet; it would have been there when the car was sold new.
If this keeps happening after you've reset it (by whatever means), it's one sign that the battery could be past its best. Do you have any idea how old it is?
Thanks for the reply.
I had tried disconnecting the battery, the old off and on again fix, but i didn't leave it for any length of time.
As for the battery, it measures 12.2V i'll check it with the engine running in a bit, i've no idea how old it is, we've had the car 5 years and haven't replace it in that time.
Hopefully the radio code guru will get back to me soon.
Thanks
