hi everyone,
i wonder if anyone can help, i've got a punto 1.2 sporting 16v, 2001, the subwoofer in the back isn't working, i never had the original head unit so i've fitted a new sony head unit, i do have a spare cable at the back, i was wondering if there are wiring diagrams, or auto leads that can get the sub to work with it?
thanks

Is it a blue wire?

An amp will need three cables going to it usually (I havnt any experience with Puntos and the standard sub, I assume it is the standard sub?) It should have a power cable (usually red), Ground cable (usually brown or black) and a remote cable (usually blue)

The remote cable sends either a 12v pulse when the HU is turned on which tells the amp to switch on and then a pulse as the HU is switched off to tell the amp to turn off. Another way it happens is that the remote wire carries a constant small volt current when the HU is on which tells the amp to turn on and stay on and as soon as the HU is switched off the current stops, switching the amp off.

This might be useless to you as the Punto sub might work in a different way.

this is the sub that comes with the car, i've basically got a connector at the back of the head unit that won't go anywhere, i've got the normal power iso connector and the normal speaker connector, this extra one i think is the sub, but i can't fine any info on it or any circuit diagrams!

maybe i'll take some picture so people know what i'm talking about!:I
thanks for your help so far.:)

I think the sub cabling comes on a plug that just plugs in?

Im not oo sure, maybe try the Punto forum bit to see about the standard sub.

hi

there are 3 sets of connectors on the punto wiring the power one, speaker one and the multi colored set. you DO NOT need the multi colored set plugged in to work the sub. they are a blauppunkt thing designed to fit into back of the standard blaupunkt unit so the onboard computer could check if the code for the stereo had been inputted.

now the standard sub recieves power from the electric arial out pin from the back of your stereo. strange it may seem (well it did to me ) but it does. i dont know what the sony pin locations are but maybe you need to move some wires??? the elec arial wire that takes the power to the sub is located in the bottom block. the thick black is earth there is a power wire above that and beside the power wire is the elec arial(sub power) one i think its yellow from what i rememember

also there is a fuse in the rear standard sub on teh top check it is there and not blown.

all the rear wiring travels the same route down the passnger side of the car from the head unit up front. so i would not of though that some one had removed any of the wires unless they did a major new install.
