Hi, I have a 3 door Stilo Arbarth 2.4 (fantastic car) and was thinking of putting a sub in the back, not to blast bass driving through towns, but to reduce the bass through the doors, I do get a vibration through them.

So what I wanted to ask, are the cables already there, or will I have to get the put in, if I do, is this a nightmare job??

Thanks

Not sure if the cables are there as my car hasn't arrived yet but I doubt very much they will be. Even if you have the better stereo system I don't think it would be suitable to just wire the new sub to those.

I had a sub put in my new shape punto and removed the old sub. I needed an anp to power the sub and at the same time I had the front speakers wired to it along with some 6x9's on the rear shelf. The wiring job without including purchasing the audio equipment but including cables etc was £150. I had it done by Auto Audio in Manchester who have a very good reputation - even Beckham uses them! This was using the factory head unit which I don't think came with any pre-outs. A good place will do a very decent job and help advise you on some equipment but you will pay through the nose if you get it from them and not by mail order.

There are some great offers for amps and subs in the back of Max Power and Revs from reputable stores. Then you can just have them fitted somewhere local to you. For the record Maplin do a top rated sub for about £80 but it is huge however the bass does make up for it.

I didn't opt for the 'hi-fi' system in my car, didn't think it would be very 'hi-fi' at all ;) So I am having to do it all myself.

I haven't actually looked for any wires going to the boot, but I don't expect them to be there. So I will have to run the cable from the head unit to the rear myself. I don't relish the job. I could pay someone else to do it, but I can't afford to. Plus I am more of a DIYer. :)
