Sub wiring

hi all well i had my subs stolen at the weekend but he was kind enough 2 unscrew them and not destroy wires. Now ive got 4 cables 2 4 each sub with like frayed ends on them how do they connect 2 a sub. wish it was as easy as a 6x9 just clip them on

all help appreciated.

Solder? Jack plugs? Depends on the connection of the sub surely?

any sub will have a +,- and a signal wire from the head unit. terminals are marked on the amp and depending on the amps connections can be slotted connectors and/or just direct connection to the end of the cable

all the wires are there ive got 4 cables hanging out of each hole were a sub was. its a really big thick gold cable and its almost like u just screw this onto a sub?? not sure yet as i anent getting my new subs till weekend

oh sorry for some reason i read amps
its just speaker wiring then. + and - wires for the sub. theres usually a hole through the terminals on a speaker box so you can run the wire through and screw it down.if its directly to the sub then spade connections

no boxs as they were mounted in my back seat (1 off cinq install ) . so should just be able 2 connect the wires 2 the subs?

Oh dear, unless you're buying subs designed to work "free air" you need to box them fella.

well they were in there be4 and they made that much bass was setting car alarms off up the street lol.

sorry should have added that info only certain types of subs are designed for free air use.i assumed oyu would be buying the same make/model again

Stand by original statement that they'd perform better boxed, but if your happy with how it is then that's all that matters

Have you got 4 cables or 2 cables that contain two wires in each?

As the four cables indicates the original subs were dual voice coil.

4 cables and its now got a clifford and ill b putting my seat covers over it in the garage with a big dog on it and a camera is gettin put in aswell .

Single VC, driven from a single channel by the looks of things.

Giggz are you using a 2 channel amp and driving each sub from a seperate channel?

If yes, then why not get two 8ohm subs (or two, dual 4 ohm subs) then bridge the amp for more power into the same load! BASS!!!:slayer:

ive got 2 amps at the min 1 powering the subs and 1 doing a set of 6x9s and i think the other set of 6x9s is run off the headunit. Not 2 sure as i didn't do the install.
