The other day i was messing with my set up as its never really worked properly (probably because of me) i removed the input lead from the amp then it accidentally touched the side of the amp and created a spark. I plugged it back in carefully but now theres a problem. Everytime there's a pause, like skipping tracks, turning the radio on/off, the subs pops pretty hard and then go back to normal. After the pop, they sound fine. Its just whenever theres a pause then they pop.

I've read a few threads and i'm hoping they're not knackered because they still seem to work perfectly other than the pop.

Sorry for the slow reply stu, was trying a few things out. Firstly i used a different rca cable from the headunit to the amp and it was still the same. I did a little checking with my wiring and found one of the amp earths virtually loose. Reconnected that up and tested it again but its still the same.

Then i plugged my phone to the amp to use as an external source and the subs were fine, f*****g loud actually! My headunit has never been able to get that much bass out of the subs! So i'm guessing my headunit is fried???

I don't understand why it pops. After the pop, it sounds fine but skipping tracks is uncomfortable!

IIRC you get voltage spikes that are being sent to the amplifier and being amplified. may i ask how you input your phone direct to you amps?

I have a cable thats 3.5mm stereo on one side and on the other, red and white rca. I connected that to the amp input just to test it and the sound was fine, no pops or anything, just deep hard loud bass! Tomorrow on my day off i'll have another look at my wiring.

You mentioned i could be getting some voltage down the rca's. How would i check that and what should i be looking for elsewhere?

Put a multi meter across the Barrel of the RCA's i believe (dont quote me on this) that you should see 12volts through it if there is something wrong.

I don't have access to a multi meter at the moment but i connected the rca's to a different amp and it caused the same effect to the connected speakers. The spark must of caused some damage to the sub out on the headunit. I don't know what else i can do. I've not had any bass for over a week now...

Think yourself lucky matey i have no sounds at all because my unit is at the repairers. The cost.... More than you can get a half decent non JVC head unit that if im correct will solve all the issues you have had now and in the past.
The cost... Priceless. (y)
