Hey

I got a Fli Active 12 sub, and had it all wired in. It worked for about 10 minutes, and now it doesnt work. No sound comes out of it, apart from it popping every now and again. the amp hasnt gone into protection mode, and ive checked all the connections.

any ideas?

thanks

where did you earth it from? un earth it and scrub the connection clean from paint oir **** and make a clean connection if it is clean check the fuse then take the head unit out and try swapping over the RCA PRe outs.

I didnt install it myself. I got a shop down the road from me to do it, so I dont know where it is earthed.

My headunit doesnt have preouts. The amp is running from my speaker cables. Its got the high level inputs.

I've checked the fuse and it is fine. I've even tried different fuses.

follow the wire it should be black, if not itt will me marked either earth or - on the amp in the seperate block of 3 connections. follow it back to the other end and wiggle it around and twist if possisble around the bolt and just see whats going on with it.

Cheers. I'll have a look in the morning when its a bit lighter outside :p

So you dont think the sub will be blown then?

I messed about with the earth and it seems to be working again now. Theyve drilled a hole into my boot floor and put a screw in. The screw is painted though :s

if theyve drilled a hole in the boot floor i hope they have missed the tank no 1, and no 2 that they have done some rust prevention to the area from both inside and out... cowboys jumps to mind im afraid mate!

It looks like theyve drilled :(

Im guessing I shouldnt have a hole in my boot floor with just a screw in anyway.

I paid them 50 quid to get it done too. With me providing the wiring kit.

frig me! what cow boys there is many many many places in the boot to get a earth from, a quick and easy one is from behind the seat belt holders!

when you open the boot look directly down where the lock contacts, there is a plastic trim, on there will be a bolt with a loop, take out this bolt, pu tthe earthing wire end behind the hole and push the bolt back threw the earth and screw it back into the cars body. if you dont understand this ill take a pic for you.
