Right, I just brought a Punto and its looking kinda kool and the guy that had it b4 me had already put in a sony xpload sub and amp. The problem is that sometimes the sub cuts out while playing and also there is a fumbling sound that comes out from the sub. If i put on my indicators or headlights this also effects the sub, is this an earthing issue? If so where would be a good place to earth the sub.

i would check all the wiring as you could find it could be that the previous owner did a bit of a bodge job on it, especially if it was his first install!!

There should be numerous eathing points in the engine bay and boot, if you just want to try that, but i would think that rewiring the lot would be a much safer option.

if it was me however i would be tempted to wire directly from/to the battery with a nice little on off switch located in the glove box or something.

mk1 or mk2 punto mate?

me personally would take all wiring out and start again, having a fuse block inline just before you connect the + to the battery, good RCA's and earthing (i used 4awg) in the boot to earth it. at least then you know it's done properly, and to a standard.

Check the original earth and make sure that you can see bare metal around where its earthed to. If you cant see bare metal, rub the metal down with some abrasive paper and re-connect the earth to the body.

Hey thanks for your help guys, if managed to fix the problem. The ground cable was not on bare metal and also all the cables ran down one side of the car. Its sounding kool now tho, thanks again :D
