As you may know I have some problems with failing ABS, ESP and so on.
The battery is replaced but I still get the errors.
Today I went to the garage and they removed the errors from the ECU and I made an apointment so the can pull out the dyno so they can put on a testbench. All waranty so not so bad.

But on my way home the car started stuttering.
i had it before aroun 1400 - 1500 rpm on cruise.

Now it was at 1900rpm on cruise @ 80km/h.
The car start stuttering and the revs drop 300rpm.
It then picks up again and pulls back up to 1900rpm.
I also noticed that sometime the engine does not respond when i put my foot down. Some sort of weak spot in the mapping. But this only occurs sometimes not always.

The EGR has been cleaned about 1000 km ago and haven't had the problems until this week.

I took out the airfilter today and it's pitch black so that will be replaced this weekend. I hope that's causing this.

Any other ideas on what this could be?

No one replied but maybe the new symptoms ring a bell to anyone.

Now a week later I've been driving around for 5 to 600km's without problem.
But these were all long drives of 44km in one go.
And the next run was about 8 hours later so the engine was always cold when started.

Today I drove a distance of 15km, engine was on tempature after that drive.
I parked it for about 10 minutes before leaving again.
The engine tempature dropped quite a bit while it was turned of.
But now the new symptom.

As I started the engine and rove off nothing was wrong.
but as soon as I hit 1500rpm it starts stuttering again.
As the garage said I pulled to 1900rom but the problems was still there.
Only when the engine was back on tempature the problem was gone.

So somthing is causing this when the engine was cooled down a bit after driving and restarting.
What could cause this problem?

After a long search and a couple of cleanings the garage contacted FIAT.
They said is was a known issue that the electronic part of the EGR valve is busted.
This makes the valve open and close at wrong times causing the stuttering, diesel knock when pulling away and the engine powerloss when shifting gears.

This week they will install a new one, hope it will be mutch better after that.

Got the EGR changed and indeed the stuttering around 1500 rpm while cruizing is gone.

But now the next problemd occurs.
When accelerating the engine starts to stutter pretty bad!
Most of the times between 2000 and 2200 rpm.
it does it in all gears.

Drove with an opend windows and could hear the turbo wistle when accelerating and decelerating.
When the engine stutters I an clearing hear the turbo flutter witch each stutter.
Same sound as with a Cinq turbo when you close the throttle and there's now BOV.

Could this be the EGR? So new one is faulty.
Or could the turbo be on it's way out?
Also got some grinding like noise when I start driving.
But when I start driving only on cluch release I do not hear it.
Any Idea's?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but im having similar problems with my 1.9MJ. I only bought the thing 1 month ago!

Its had a new EGR valve after the warning light came on (this was before it left the garage) but it still stutters between 1900-2300 rpm under gentle acceleration.

Like others have said its much worse when its warm and dry weather.

Ive replaced the air filter recently with a green cotton as the old standard one was black. This has made not difference to the stuttering.

Any ideas?

I don't know anymore what resolved the problem.
The problem was solved pretty quickly.
If I remember correctly the technician forgot to remove th error codes.
Somehow this caused the problem.
