hallo to all.
yesterday evening i noticed a problem when i'm about accelerating my bravo 1600 16v.
sometimes when i'm in 3 and 4 i hear a noise coming from the motors that sounds like "frrrrr frrrr"like a small impeller.....but only when i'm in low number of turns(i hope i have translated well...).
I think that the rumors is the same when a car is engulfed...i'm right?
i have noticed also that the plastic on the passenger side of the car is loosen on it's position (the one that when you enter the car is under the door,with many "dots"...),i have see only one screw to loose....it's difficult to set in position that plastic?

Hi mate, It could be a sill skirt Flapping about (if you have a body kit on your car) or it could be the exhaust heat shield. My shield rasp's when the engine hit's a certain rev range (usually around 2500rpm). Hope this is some help to you.

I don't have any kits on my car.
i think that the problem are the same (because of the same 3000...2500 of your's).
It's normal or not? and if not what i must make in order to resolve the problem?

another thing....
i have noticed it when i have made a long journey without pause(about 182 miles) and stopped at house.....5 minutes later i start the car again and noticed that!

It could be the exhaust shield but as for changing it I haven't a clue.Maybe 1 of the guy's on here could help.

No one know if it's serious or not?
As for the plastic....it's a fabric problem,the plastic is little small and not fits the position...i'have tried to insert in it's position and i broke it :p
there's no problem when the door is close,but when i open it the plastic moves....i think i need a new one changed.

It's easy to check if it's teh heat shield.

Wait until your car is cold - otherwise you'll get third degree burns on your arms off the exhaust tailpipe.

Look underneath the car at the rear and get hold of teh heat shield. If it waggles it's loose. It's a **** of a job to refix it on the original screw mounting as the exhaust has to come off.

I used three self tappers to hold it in place, whilst teh car was on the ramps. Don't take the shield off as it's a little close to teh gasoline tank for comfort.

If you're lazy, go to a decent tyre and exhaust fitters etc - they'll do it for you for about £5, but be carefull where teh self tapping scres penetrate teh interior of the boot!!!

In the engine bay, back of the engine almost dead center, The manifold heatshield, three bolts of mine have come out and i can't get to the fourth, Check it out

So i can search near the exhaust and near the engine(i don't know where to search but i try.....).
what shape has the manifold heatshield?

Hallo.
I have searched both the exhaust heat shield and manifold heatshield and both are in their position firmly (the exhaust shake a little in the left and right position but the 3 bolts are firmly in place...).
What about something accelerator related(some friends said something about "butterfly" being dirty...).

My bravo has the same problem. About 2500 RPM I get a tapping noise. The noise doesn't increase with revs so I figure it can't be the engine. I have an HGT so is the manifold heat shield easy to get at? Can I do it from above or will I have to put the car on ramps and do from underneath? I need to sort it out as it is doing my nut in.

My 1.6 Brava does this as well. Sometimes I can hear a vibration from the engine. I thought it was the splash guard in the front wing, but I must check the exhaust manifold.

From wath i have see the manifold heatshield is relatively easy to see (search for the manifold near the engine at the back of it....the heatshield is that sort of "half box" that stands to protect from the heat the rest of the bay.
But i think that is something related to the gear....in fact mine is relatively hard to change gears!
