when hot, usually after 30 minutes of driving it can develop a bumping sensation which feels like it's taking up the drive then losing it. it can be quite severe sometimes especially on a left lock. checked everything underneath but myself & two mechanics are baffled, checked the gearbox oil that was fine, driveshafts look sound. also there can be a slight hesitation, which the cars had for quite awhile, i changed plugs & coil packs as it has done around 75,000 miles but to no avail. had to change the o/s front tyre recently as it had worn both oh the inside an outside to the point the wire strengthening was exposed. it seems to point to diff problem but sometimes it runs perfectly . last night i was on the motorway for around 20 minutes when i came off it was really bad for around a mile then went ok again. i.m completely baffled so i'm hoping someone has come across a similar thing before. fingers crossed the eggheads on here can help

Hi :)

Not a 4x4 owner.. but know twinairs..

Basics.. tyre wear like that can be underinflation..
or a mechanical fault ( wheel can move too freely when cornering)

Some of the drivetrain could well be electronically controlled... might need a disgnostic plugging in for the drivetrain

Engine ... sounds like its running ok.. you just serviced it to see if it improved things..

I did similar with my 2wd..
again..no improvement :-(

4x4 owners will be along shortly (y)

thanks for the reply , the tyre had the right pressure.& it's had a recent service. it really is a strange one as it can go from being worryingly bad to running fine again. no warning lights have ever been illuminated if i can't get any ideas from the forum i'll try an OBD

Multi ECUScan or AlfaOBD are the only things likely to successfully interrogate the Drivetrain control kit ;-)

Wasn't the twinair only available in the later 319 shape cars

This section is only for the 169 pandas

There a fair bit different including suspension.

Hard to know where to start

Tyres wearing through to the wire on both shoulders

Under inflation
Driving too hard
Too wide a tyre for the rim width
Over heated tyre
Over loaded tyre
Wheel bearing
Poor quality tyre

I suspect It will have nothing to do with

'' after 30 minutes of driving it can develop a bumping sensation which feels like it's taking up the drive then losing it.''

Look at the Rev counter as its happening

Does the needle drop brefly to zero?

i've dipped the clutch & put it in neutral but it 's still there but i've never checked the rev counter so i'll check that next time

No idea how easy it is for a moderator to move this thread

Not a problem being here

But stands more chance being seen by the correct person if its problems are specific to the later builds
