Stilo V's new Astra

Stilo V's new Astra

And if you read my post, price, performance, IG, goodies inside, lack of infamous "Golf ****" identity etc. etc.

Edit: Also what do you mean price is the issue? Well YES! Why would anybody be driving a Fiat/VAG/Vauxhall etc. etc. if price wasn't an issue?!

Are you really that gullible that you believe manufactures figures? 0-60 depends on the amount of fuel carried...how many people are in the car, what ancillaries are turned on..i.e. a/c and how quickly you can change gear. Dont read about them, get out there and drive them then I'll listen to your opinions however subjective

Firstly it's PGHSTOCHAJ. :)

Funnily enough Mr Roger, I am not as gullible and easy to please as your son.

I am also an actually bright student, proven by an awful lot on my CV, not just backed up by my Dad.

Therefore I would like you to explain to me how in the world you think me of all people would get misled by a comment like that? Both cars would be affected by all of those in very much the similar way. Turn A/C on and you lose power, assuming similar A/C units (fact), this different would be irrelevant. Load both cars up with 4 people, again, the changes in the difference would likely to be negligible and neither you or I can say with conviction which would do the slightly better. However, I know which of the two specifications I would chose to rely on most.

Gullible enough to believe the figures? No, however, I am bright enough to believe that averaged out, the errors are likely to be the same accross manufacturers.

You can't argue against facts (you will obviously try). I know do not believe you are in the motoring press, somebody in that field wouldn't try to claim one car is actually slower than another despite figures due to the gear changing. Hence trying to guess that all Fiat Stilo JTD drivers have slower gear changes than the equivilent Golf drivers. How interesting!

...and for the record, I am not a journalist and I don't know any 'samicos'. I work for Fiat Alfa uk...my job there is to compare our products with those of other manufactures.....through driving them

So why in the world the lack of knowledge? Also why did you suddenly register on here for a single arguement and come straight to this?

What car do you drive then?

I'm being objective...its my job...I stumbled across this site by accident and why to 'bright students' think they have all the relevant knowledge..? - Rhetorical question, please don't bore me with an answer

Roger....

Firstly, yes price is an issue, as I am a student, and was last year when I bought my Stilo I was restricted by my sponsorship to only having around £10k to spend :D

Right, VAG Diesel, old fashinoned diesel more like! My mate has a new Golf TDi 140 GT, nice car, cost him £19k, is it really worth £9k more than a Stilo? I haven't driven it yet but I did drive his last GT TDi 130 ( cost £17k ), and it was marginally quicker than the Stilo, BUT I'd say it actually had a little more lag!

I'm not saying VAG diesel are crap, but they aren't the best, in fact the 2.5TDI never gets a particularly good rep.

Argueably BMW are producing the best diesel at the moment, and as I said earlier, even the smaller of their units suffer from some lag.

I can't wait to hear what you drive, 'money is no object' Roger.

Oh, yeah I forget, Samico already told us Daddy drives an RS4 :D

Well probably for the same reasons that you think you have the relevant knowledge to comment.

I would bore you but I am sure even more qualified people will "bore" you with why they can comment.

Your job should be about improving Fiats, not criticising them openly on a public forum, would be funny if your manager found out.

OK, how do the Vauxhall diesels compare to Fiats? (NB: FIAT make the engines!)

james, the fact is that the comment "What so money is the issue [in what car you drive]" will mean that if he says anytihng less than the best/most expensive car in the world, he will have to be slated for it.

Well why not an Enzo? Ah, money is an issue then.....

What a silly comment. I still thing you should be offering suitable constructive criticism re: Fiat engines not anything like what you were doing.

Did you sell the Audi?

..and the dynamics of the engine in the two cars are totaly different... drive them both, please
