Stilo V's new Astra

Stilo V's new Astra

Yeah guess you have newspapers to write for.

"re all the argument over Stilo v Astra. I'm afraid that like it or not, Samico is correct in what he says (he's a bright kid) The facts are, Fiat should stick to doing what they do best i.e. make good cheap small cars and leave the performance side of things to their brother, Alfa Romeo. the Stilo is a horrible car to drive, the steering is dead (city mode? whats that all about??) and has no feed back at all. The acceleration is poor except on the diesels and they suffer dreadfully with turbo lag. The top of the range 'Abarth' is a joke and denigrates the once famous name. The materials used in the Stilos construction are cheap, the ride noise is appalling but, the radio is an improvement to that on other Fiats in so much as you can actually turn it on and off without the use of tweezers."

Please, a Fiat worker, no....

Bye Roger, perhaps on your return you can join in some other threads and start making some sense ;)

James, the tightwad Stilo driver :D

The Abarth promises much but doesn't deliver. Compare it with the Honda Accord type S 2.4, and then tell me the abarth is a good car
Yes, I can tell you the Abarth is a good car for the price we are paying. Could I pick a 2 y/o Accord up with 16k on the clock for £7500?

My father happens to now own his 4th SL500 [his last one bought new a few months back!] - slightly better than an Audi rs4! So why didn't Samico's father buy one of those? And please can you justify the use of an X5, unless someone happens to live in the country with no road access.

You have to understand the passion of owning a FIAT.

ahhh...so price is the issue...well, keep dreaming boys...
Considering I happen to be a Chartered Certified Accountant, living in a house with just under half acre plot in a nice village location, I don't need to dream anymore ;)

Ah Stu, he drives a Catherham and a Alfa GT 3.2, your not in his league! He's also extremely clever, we must be in awe.

People like us can just dream.

I still don't understand why moneys not an issue but he only has those two cars...

Pah! Dreamer :D

I know, half acre is pi** poor really! But we did move in here when I was 25 and y/o and Jules only 22 :)

It isn't our dream house, lol! We will move again in about 5 years to what we really want ;)

The funny thing is, mine is bigger than my dads :D

Just around the time I bought the Abarth a few months back, I had a quick look in the Top Gear magazine!

The Abarth was under Hot Hatches to consider - and iirc, the comment was 'buy a 2 y/o example for £7500, and you can't really go wrong!' - so looks like Top Gear didn't slate it! Or maybe it was just one journalists view.

Maybe the Journo in question had just been on a freebie weekend courtesy of Fiat ;)

Funny enough, iirc the Stilo got some good reviews when it first came out, maybe the journo's didn't get the palm greasing they were expecting and so have since changed their opinions :D

...and for the record, I am not a journalist and I don't know any 'samicos'. I work for Fiat Alfa uk...my job there is to compare our products with those of other manufactures.....through driving them

Sorry, but I don't believe this for a second. You clearly aren't interested in listening to other peoples points of view. You also don't appear to know what the hell you're on about...
