Stilo V's new Astra

My god its got ugly here. Everyone needs a deep breath.! As for our zitty friend, he needs to really lighten up.

my family have owned a succesion of fiats and an odd citroen in between. For years we have heard people winging about them being rubbish however i think these claims are unjustified. Currently we have a doblo.

The doblo is hardly graced with the best looks but its everything a car should be Comfortable, powerful and cheap to run. and its a fiat.

The stilo is a stylish tidly designed car, the toyotta corolla is just the next in a long line of toyottas which have nicked styling ideas from fiat. As for the astra its a golf/focus sort of thing (the stilo being a golf) its gonna have some similarities. the class is full of cars that are hard to tell apart.

I object too TC, who do I complain to? :p If i ever meet you it will be such a laugh!

This isn't a bad thread, noting wrong with a bit of discussion, friendly or not.

i believe the astra comes with a lot more features than the stilo and better quality upholstry, take a brand new astra club for 11995, electric windows, cd player, air con, metallic paint, 16 " alloys and some other dodgy features, but hey its a "new shape" its been around less time than the stilo has so its a more desirable option being unique, and only the stilo abarth is any good in my eyes, vauxhall all the way. (y)

Mate, my Stilo has all the above, ok its not a metallic, but I prefer my colour ;) , oh its got a 115bhp diesel engine too!

Cost?

£9600, and metallic would have only been another £300!

Don't get me wrong, the Astra isn't bad, I had a good poke around one when my lass was buying her Corsa, the 18's on the SRi look great, and you can already get some decent discounts. The SRi CDTi 150 looks tempting, but you know what? There are already too many of them on the road! :D

So I presume that you have dealt with Vauxhall/Ford/Peugeot etc...after sales services?

We all seem to slate FIAT, but it is only dependent on the franchise/managers behind it - I have never had any major problems with my local Alfa/FIAT dealer, and I am talking from my experience.

Well yes actually, on all three counts. And Citroen too. By far the best being Peugeot! It's not just the aftersales, it's the build quality too! Don't get me wrong, my Punto is great and I love it, Fiat as a company seem to be fairly poor. :(

hmm, people whos mums are car testers, boring zzz, one persons opinion is different to anothers, its easy to quote from mums and say its lame, i mea both cars must have faults, and sides people do know where talking about the new astra right? the 04 astra, the new model with the stupid go advert. not the odl boring old farts one that i get carted around a lot in

mind u when my dad drives we can get about 134mph out of it

now now boys and girls all this is coming out you mouths but i know for a fact that if someone gave you an 04 astra for free i know none of you would be turning that S**T down. PLEASSSSSSE

and just for the recored i have the new astra and its a better drive than the chink, sies.punto and uno put together but i'm still not getting rid of my punto ELX thats my baby

And it's not a surprise it handles etc. better than all those cars...they aren't in the same league or age.

Yeah, anything for free I wouldn't turn down - it doesn't mean to say that I was going to keep it and love it and cherish it - PLEASSSSSSSSE

My mate won a Peugeot comp about 5 years ago - won a new 607, or whatever, Estate in white! He took it straight down to the local VAG dealer and p/ex'd it for an ex-demo Golf VR6! So he accepted a crap car, didn't turn it down, and got something slightly more exciting, albeit with some extra finance to pay :)

And your point is? :p

For the record if somebody gave me an '04 plate Astra I would keep it, cherish and love it for years to come!

True, don't ruin my dream :p

Today the worst thing happened, it was freezing and it was heavily raining last night, the huge pad lock on the bike shed was completely solid, i couldn't do a thing to get even my key in, let alone turning it :( I need a car!

I never had that problem on a car, it's only Eng after all, at least i would have had a better chance than this morning, the key wouldn't go in more than 1cm (5cm long), i will have to invest in a lighter for next time.

ok enough with astras and stilos, what about the 2005 focus, our service manager recently went to germany to testdrive the new focus 1.8 diesel, there they were allowed to drive 3 other cars to see the difference, paul our service administrator said the focus is alot better to drive than the new astra 1.7 diesel, the renault megane diesel and the new volkswagon golf diesel, i reckon the new focus is better than the whole lot.

I am a great fan of Fords, having owned a 2.0 litre Mondeo Ghia X for 5 years!

My next car was going to be a Focus, even looked at the ST170, for pure road-handling and go-kart like feel. BUT my heart wasn't in it....

Another problem with the Focus is it's the most common company car and hence lacks any indviduality, the new one also IMO is worse looking than the generally ok looking previous one.
