Stilo V's new Astra

Given the choice, I'd get the Astra over the Fiat purely based on looks and my experience of Fiat's totally ****e after sales/customer service.

So I presume that you have dealt with Vauxhall/Ford/Peugeot etc...after sales services?

We all seem to slate FIAT, but it is only dependent on the franchise/managers behind it - I have never had any major problems with my local Alfa/FIAT dealer, and I am talking from my experience.

ive had a problem with one of the dealers where i bought my car from which is quite far from Reading but as for the fiat garage in Reading no problems at all

The thing is Steve, people in this country have been brain-washed for years, when we get into these sorts of debates at work and they slag of my FIAT, I always respond with, 'oh yeah and what marques are left that are British?' and they always say 'Ford or Vauxhall'.

They still believe these marques represent this country, that's why they're so hung up on them, it freaks me out!

You've hit the nail on the head TC - couldn't agree more. Except in the Midlands you get the added annoyance of "why day ya get one o' them Rovers" (that's black country speak) I usually reply with something along the lines of because they are S*** on a stick...

hmm, yeah the astra is far better, im afraid that the stilo is quite crap, it doesnt really shift, also the range topping stilo abarth is just as shoddy as the rest of the range, and as soon as the new hot astra comes out the stilo wouldnt even be thought of to be compared against it, the astra is better by about a mile....

The new astra looks like the stilo and indeed every new car, this is down to the increasingly stricter standards imposed on car makers for silly things like "pedestrian safety" Don't walk into a car is safest!!!
I think the new astra is nothing special and the stilo is a better looking car, but having seen the pics for the prototype GSI and the specs, (faster than a 20vt) the astra GSI is set to look ace and perform. Can't wait

That may be, but I still hate a lot of GM cars, with the odd exception. I am also not a big fan of VAG ones either, although some Audis are ok.

One thing, I can't get passionate about an Astra, but I can with a Fiat - and the Stilo is definitely not shoddy.....

At the end of the day, we could all talk about what friends & relatives have, but unless you've earned and bought it yourself, who cares?

I presume his first car will be a brand new ASTRA GSi - hmm, shall we place our bets now.

Me and Jules work bloody hard to get the cars we got! No one can take that away from us.

Id agree with that. Ive also had numerous vauxhalls and Im never going back to them. Id rather get the bus. Astras definately fallen out of the ugly tree and hit all the branches on the way down.

My sisters recently bought a Stilo and Its really very nice, probably my next car, its stunning.

the range topping astra was sh*te so whats he on about? they had to change the whole car to the coupe version and that was the only one that had the half decent 2 litre turbo. Even if they make a hot version in the new shape it wont have the tourque to have the stilo. Lets just see what he's driving as his first car! or is daddy going to buy it

Steve, the newest offering, Test drive, has a blatant anti-Fiat theme its synopsis type reviews on every car at the back.

It is really annoying, as the value of our cars is adversly effected, because some Clarkson wannabe thinks it 'cool' to be demeaning.

But, on the bright side, at least as a result the muppet sheep brigade don't buy them.

lol, whoa check the abuse, yes i havent driven one or the other, but one of my parents is a motor journalist, and i get all sorts of information, and im not particularly anti fiat, i have a seicento, but i do find the fact that 90% of the people who are for the stilo own one and thats why you are quite bias about this whole thing, and basically putting this argument in a fiat forum or 'the fiat forum ' or whatever , so your all gonna think the better car being the astra is gonna be crap, because all fiat is the holy grail...
