General Stilo roof rack rails

Hi Gang,
does anyone know how to remove the rails from the roof please? before i have a go and probably snap something. the black paint is flaking off and i want to spray them .

The parts catalogue shows them held on with clips, so they probably lever off.

You will break one clip for sure. They're old and fairly brittle by now.

The way I did it was to carefully lift up the rear end of the inset, since that's easiest to get a hold of. The insets then more or less have to be "wiggled" out of the clips.

The insets are alloy, so can crease if you're too clumsy trying to remove them... don't just apply force to the end that you're holding.. you have to get them off one clip at a time... wiggling works better than just liftin/bending them away from the car roof.

Someone did post the part numbers of the clips on here (I'll have a look) but I don't know if they're available still. One of mine got KIA so the inset lifts up a few millimeters at that end.. so the loss of one clip isn't toooo severe.

They're 71740687 apparently.. but that's from a thread where some was told that. They didn't say whether it turned out to be correct.
