Hey guys,

Noticed alot of posts regarding the rise/decrease in road taxing for the Stilo so thought i would post up each cost, and for all engine sizes.

There is no difference between 3 and 5 door variants or vehicle trim (i.e. active, dynamic).
Below each engine size is a link to the Parkers website.

The list is in order largest engine size first (2.4 to 1.2).
Hope this helps.

In 2010 the cheapest to tax will be the 1.9 115bhp (£115.00) and the most expensive is the 2.4 170bhp (£430.00).

What I dont understand is that the registration dates dont seem to have any effect, i.e mine (Stilo abarth)was first registered in July 02 yet this is still affected by the higher tax bracket?
There was an article in this months Top Gear magazine reference a Jaguar XK coupe saying that because it was registered before April 2006 it still comes under the £210 tax bracket whilst XK coupes registered after April 2006 will come under the new tax bands of £400+, would this not apply to Stilo Abarths?.
Obviousley in XK has a much larger engine and churns out more CO2, so how come its cheaper to tax?
Im confused?????????

Might be because (i'm guessing here) if its EOBD 3 or 4 etc (i.e. emissions)

Great, £205 for my 1.6 as of next year.

Bloody government. Think I might be getting a JTD next.

Or a 500 :)

Should put up the price of second hand JTDs and lower the price of the other performance models.

Thankful I've only got a 1.2, but that'll change for my next car, so not exactly a fan of these brilliant new charges.

Get yourself a diesel you know it makes economical sense (especially if you're Scots or from Yorkshire).:D

Oh crap! Just renewed my tax for 6 months, was planing to do the 12 months later to get me almost through 2009! :bang:

Why is my car not listed 1.6 Active sprt Registered 30 June O5:confused:

volxstu, its the same as the dynamic 1.6. The trim doesnt alter the tax band, and they both have the same engine.

Included the model as an example, So its £205 for a year.

To be honest most people who buy the abarth or any high polluting car know they will spend loads on the car anyway, so to be honest the way the tax system works i dont think its perfectly fair. For example people driving range rovers won't flinch an eye lid at the tax cost (unless they are up to their eyes in hire purchase fees).

its kinda ridiculous how the 1.9 turbo is the same as the 1.2  ah well, not much of an increase

tho one question, isnt there a date of manafacture which the charge decreases? sorry if this seems stupid but classic cars are free insurance arent they, whats the cut off for that?

was thinking of a corado next, 1.8 g60 so god knows how much that would be :(

Thinking this over the increase for the 1.6 isnt too bad about £40 I think, still its that psychological barrier of breaking through the £200 level!
Im just glad im not my gf's bro-in-law.... 3.2 V6....ouch!

I thought i'd made a mistake buying the Sporting 150 as price of diesel has shot up and i'm only averaging 42/gallon but cant believe tax prices for petrol are going up that high!

(ok it's only the cost of 2 tanks of fuel for a 1.8)

That seems a bit low, do you 'make progress' to get that figure?

I'd actually considered getting a Skoda Fabia VRs at one point a while back. Saw one that had been chipped and tuned to 180BHP, Porsche 964 alloys (Carrera) and lowered rather a lot, in black. Looked quite smart...for a Skoda :p

Yeah, wanting a big(ger) engined car next that can do 0-60 in less than 12 seconds. I might even go Japanese
