Technical stilo front door catch

hi well im now the proud owner of a bentish door and wing thanks to the wind which snatched it out of my daughters hand this morning.What i need to know is are the door check strap (the thing thats supposed to stop it opening wide)interchangeable with left and right or do i have to replace it with the same side.Theres some on evil bay but it doesnt state left or right just for a 3 door.Also is there a difference with 3 door one and a 4 door one.Thanks in advance

3 door and 5 door front checkstraps are different, but the left and right one for each is the same.

i changed my drivers door one last year. really easy job to do.
i got the part from my local fiat dealers. think it was around £15. it is not a metal one like is on there now, it is metal but got a grey plastic on it. also local dealer should have them in stock so you wont have to wait.

The plastic sleeve is a modification to stop them squeaking when opening and closing the door.

That reminds me i need to do mine. I just find it very useful when working on the car to be able to open it really wide lol.

Davren says they are the same, but if you have the choice, I'd go for the one from the side you need.

And if you can get one with the plastic coating on it, then do so. It's a massive improvement on the earlier all-metal design which needs regular lubrication to oprate smoothly.

As I recall they're not that expensive brand new from a FIAT dealer and given the punishment they take, buying new's probably not a bad idea...
