Hey Guys

I've got the oppertunity of getting a 3dr Abarth, and am looking into insurance. Basically my mum has an insurance policy on hers, and is the main policy holder of mine, and I'm the named driver (so she can use her 10 years NCB on mine).

Quotes I'm getting (she's 56, I'm 20) are around £2500!!!!

Anyone with any ideas? Might have to keep my beloved 1.8 :p

Depending on who your current insurer is, you might be able to transfer a no claims bonus for the time you've been a named driver on your car if you insure the Abarth with them.

I've just done this with Elephant - I've been a named driver on my girlfriend's Ka policy with Elephant for 3 years, and although I've constantly had insurance on cars since I was 17 (I'm 26 now) in my own name, I don't have any NCB, as for the last 3 years I've had a classic car policy, and you don't accrue NCB with them.

Thankfully the best quote I got for the Abarth was with them, and they were staight away happy to copy over the 3 years NCB to the new policy, which is in my name.

Incidently, it was £377 fully comp...but then, you are significantly under the magic 25-year age threshold!

Wouldn't hurt to get a quote from them, and so far as I've experienced, they're all UK based call centres. Unlike N**wich U**on, who completly faided to 'quote me happy', or even 'understand what the hell I'm saying'.

I was on a company car policy for 3 years before getting my Abarth in March I therefore got 0 NCDafter loads of shopping around online, going to directchoice online came out at £540-ish

Everywhere else was 850-1250, but I went direct to direct choice online and they came in 300 notes lighter, which was nice!
