I have a Stilo 1.6 Multiwagon. My CO emissions were found to be 0.68% Vol during the National Car Test (NCT) some weeks ago. This is more than twice the allowed limit of 0.3% Vol. I had to replace the Lambda after the CAT 2 years ago and the CAT was flushed at the same time. I had diagnostic carried out on the fuel system 2 week ago and the garage reckon that the CAT is shot. I have sourced a new CAT+gaskets from YES4CATS. Has anybody changed this cat before and is there much to it? I was told by a FIAT Dealer that it would take 3 hours and would cost €300 (£270) which suggests that there might be a bit to it

Are you sure that when they ran diagnostics
that all faults were noted, cat may be damaged
but something has caused that damage like overfueling
which may be linked to engine temperature, dirty air
filter, or failing engine sensors.

Cat's expensive to replace and find the original faults
damaging the new cat.

lambda 2 (post cat, downstream sensor or after cat whichever you prefer) is there solely to monitor the cats efficiency and not emissions (mixture)
