Hey guys,

I had a Pioneer DEH-4000UB car stereo which was previously fitted on my first car. Now that I own a Bravo, I'm plugging the stereo in it.

I never had problems with the Fiat stereo. My problem with the Pioneer stereo is that whenever I switch off my car, all sound settings are lost. Google'd the problem and this is what I found on the Pioneer's FAQ:

How do I stop losing my channel presets or sound settings when the car stereo is switched off?

In most instances, this is caused by an incorrect cable connection. Check that your rear cables are properly connected:

  • Yellow : has to be connected to the battery for constant battery voltage(12V)
  • Red : has to be connected to the ignition switch of your car (however, please check your car stereo user manual as for certain cars like Volkswage and Opel, these cables are inverted).
Everything is hooked up this way (refer to the pics):

Clips A & B which are coming out of the dashboard are hooked in C & D. They cant be switched as their geometry (A & B) is different.

From C & D, the lead goes to E, which is inserted at the back of the stereo.

Now the lead (C & D ====> E ) has some wires which can be con/disconnected. such wires are labeled 'System control unit', 'ACC', '+Battery', 'MUTE'. when I tried to disconnect the battery and ACC wires, the stereo didn't switch on of course.

Also, the same lead was used when the stereo was used on the other car, but didn't have any sort of problems.

Anyone can help? Thanks in advance!

In your last photo, swap the yellow and red wires over

i.e. red -> yellow
and yellow -> red

i plugged the yellow in the red, and vice versa, and it worked.

thanks a lot buddy :)
