hello,

i was wondering which type of screwdriver is required to open the low steering cover for fiat uno? There's only one screw in the steering cover of my car

I used all kinds and sizes of screwdrivers but didn't work at all

Thanks for the help

Its an 8, 9 or 10mm socket :D

Theres 3 screws:
1) Right hand side by ignition barrel
2) Left hand side opposite ignition barrel
3) At the end of the plastic shroud underneath the dashboard.

The top shroud is connected to the bottom one by the two nearer screws, whilst the one near the dashboard is used to 'secure' the shroud to the car.

Hello Ucof, thanks a lot for the reply :slayer:

So all i have to do right now is to buy size 8 , 9 and 10 mm nutdrivers to open the steering cover? (just wanted to make sure because i'm a bit new to this)

Thanks!!

10 if its the same as mine. You will also need an extention as the one is deep in. Oh, and get the smallest body socket you can.

Mine are also 10s. I use that "pipe" key, you know?
It's like a small pipe, just has nut-shaped ends.

As I said, its an 8,9 OR 10mm socket, and now we know! :D

Welcome to the forum by the way!

oops just a small problem

I only found on my fiat uno , 2 screws

one at the left side of the steering cover ( cannot be opened :S i've tried with 8 and 10mm nutdriver )
and the other one is under the steering cover ( i've opened it with a 10mm nutdriver)

can someone please help me out? :(

Actually, to be more precise, the screw i didn't succeed removing it is the one pointed by the arrow on the picture

Re: steering cover problem

They are all the same, unless someone replaced original one with something else....
Can't you just use flashlight, bend down yourself and see what's the screw's head like? That would be best.

(They should all be exact same, so, if it just spins and doesn't come out, I think you'll have to tear that apart... <---- this is just a thought in case you determine it's the same one, and it spins w/o coming out.)
