Hi there on my MK2 Punto 1.2 8v I have snapped the steering control arm on the driver's side. Basically the front drivers wheel does not turn and the nearside one does.

What part do I need to get to replace! PLEASE HELP!! It was a slight knock against something which caused it!

Hard to tell from the description. Track rod end?

You'll need to get the tracking done, too.

Or it could be the bit that connects the Track Rod end to the Steering rack

However - snapping one is rare, i hear alot of vauxhalls suffer with track rods developing play in the joint on the rack

Resulting in 2x Track rod ends and you might as well do both track rods as well if 1 has failed

Hi thanks,

The recovery guy said "the control arm has broken off" and I could see this thin rod thing detached from the wheel. I can't find anything called a control arm when searching parts!

w x y reg ive seen these with severe corrosion on the thread where they bolt to the track rod end
heat should never be used on these as this causes the metal to weaken
good news is they are available from fai for less than £20
you obviously need a new track rod end too
then a geometry check
so less than £100 all in done dusted at a professional independent garage
