hi Im new here

Im having some major problems trying to start my Sei. I recharge the battery again & again and everythings fine for a while until the next day when the same thing happens. I turn the key and get a strange humming sound. The key light comes on then goes back out again. I have a few ideas what could be wrong. Any ideas? Anyone?

so what do you think is wrong?
buy a new battery. its winter. winter kills batteries. then get someone with a multimeter or a garage to test the alt output for you.
the humming is probably the fuel pump dragging the last few volts out of the battery.

why do they alwyas go just before the end of the month?

Check that your alternator isn't ceasing up. I had problem with similar symptons thew other week and had to get a new alternator. Take it down to a garage to get the battery tested, they normally do it for free (always have done for me anyways).

how much was the new alternator? anyway Im calling out the RAC tomorrow.. dont understand. it's my first car for goulds sake!!

Howdy,

I have the same problem right now  I had to get the sodding bus to work :( .

To be honest, i'd buy a new battery 1st - They are about £20ish - you'd probbably pay that for calling the AA out anyway. Any paperwork with your car? If so, check it for when the battery was purchaced. As some one said in the posts above, the "winter kills batterys". Have you tried bump starting it or jump leads? Lastly, check that your battery terminals are done up tight as you may have been driving round with loose ones, therefore the battery was gradually loosing its charge - Note: Short, stop-start outings will kill the battery off anyway as the thing cant charge.

I know how you feel :D

Regards
