Starting Problem, HELP PLEASE!

ok so i have posted about this before, and its still causing me trouble, i'm now onto my second mechanic trying to work out what is causing the problem.
trying to stat the car it will work perfect sometimes, other times it will start with a struggle "chug chug, dying noise chug... start", and other times it will take a good couple of minutes to start, turning the key "chug chug chug" no start switch off, try again "chug chug chug, POP, chug chug, POP, chug chug, and it starts normal sounding!!" lol sorry i'm not very mechanically minded so you will have to bear with me on this!
this is really embarrasing, and i need to sort it out, does anyone know what i can try, or does anyone know what is causing this! anything i can suggest to my mechanic to look at for me.

oh by the way the POP is a backfire!

First of,if you have to make suggestions to a mechanic as to what the problem is,then get another mechanic.

I cant remember what was said in your last thread on this,but a full service plugs AND maybe the leads if its backfiring,oil fuel and air filters and a dose of redex might solve the problem for you.

If it doesent then at least your car has had a full service,and the mechanic will know to look else ware straight away.

saving you money.

As above, give her a good service(oil,sparks and filter) and get her a new set of HT leads.
This will be the cheapest thing to try first and something that you could do yourself.

check that the cam belt has not slipped sound like its out by one tooth and like above give a service with new ht leads as my car has gone thought 2 sets of ht lead in 6 month or it may be a lose earth from the engine

it had a full service back in february, would that have included the HT leads? if i get the HT leads changed is it something i can do myself or would i need the mechanic to do it, and how much would that cost approximately?
oh and also what does 6 months tax for a 1.2 brava cost these days?

Mine does the same, Have been told to replace lambda sensors.
