The location of the pulleys is irrelevant.. you time it by locking the cams and setting the bottom end so that all the pistons are in the middle and level.

Sorry mate, but it is relevant. When the pistons are leveled it is still 50% that it is OK, they meet twice on one rotation of the crank. Hence the tip with the key on the pulley, very useful one if you ask me. But then, I never timed a 16V, so what do I know ;) :p

Ok the first problem has shown its ugly head, well not so much a problem more a pita, something has let go in the gearbox dont know what but its making some strange noises :bang: it sounds like the diff but will know more tomorrow.....

Well i couldnt wait and its not the diff its 3rd gear thats let go as thats the only gear its making a noise in but i have a spare 6 speed box here but how easy is it to change the clutch fork assembly:confused: as that is knackered

Sorry was asleep when i got your message.

Really easy to fit. Id get a new one from Shop4parts as really not very expensive. Theres a c-clip on top and then the couple of plastic 'bushes' that need a bit of mangling. 10 minute job. Just make sure you put it on in the right place or box will have to come off again.

Cheers for that info dan but by the time i have just read it the new box is done and in and running and all is good:D:D:D:D:D let the playtime/terrorizing start again:devil::devil::devil::devil:
it turned out then when i pulled the box apart i have taken 3 teeth off 3rd gear but everything else is fine so going to rebuild the box and keep it as my spare but will also buy another 6 speed and have an emergency 5 speed laying around as well(y)(y)(y)
must scoot as still at work and pc is required to do a bill

Well everything was perfect on the drive home from work and the gear change and everything about the box just feels loads better than the other one ever did:rolleyes::rolleyes: so i can only assume that the gearbox was a weak one or had already endured some damage prior to me buying it...good job i only paid £50 each :D:D:D
Roll on Ace Cafe on thursday night for its first public showing (y)(y)

AND IT GOES LIKE **** OFF A SHOVEL!!!!!!!!!!! Boy was it fun scooting thru the traffic and leaving every car for dead :D:D:D:D:D:D:D cant wait to get it remapped now and have a bit more:devil::devil:
yes all taxed and got its mot with no advisories and got my mate to go over it with a fine tooth comb (y) in fact i had the whole garage round it for the first hour and a half of being there so it got well and truely scrutinized.....everyone was amazed by it and my mate who did the mot drove it afterwards up the road and scared himself:D:D:D and there aint no ditches to go in round wembley :p:p
all i can say is if you are thinking of doing it dont think JUST DO IT (y)

Would if had, time, money, another car to use & the slightest idea How
Lmao

Well yes but as far as i'm concerned the number of build threads i'm subscribed to in the cento section is very small compared to a few years back. To be fair there is ALOT less cento's about (especially cinqs) than there was a few years back as well.

And still yet to see someone build a 1.4 16v turbo which amazes me tbh.
