@blu73: yes im glad i didnt give up but at the time the damn thing just gets you so angry when you know its so close:rolleyes: and when you are on one bit so long it sort of makes you blind to the most obvious thing, like with my problem all it was down to was having 2 plugs exactly the same 4 pin with blue rubber seal and putting then in the wrong bit:eek: but it hey it happens to the best of us (y)
@lazybones:bring clean change of underwear :D
@bluedan:it put an extra £120 a year with everything declared(y) and no nothing wrong at all,all in tip top(y)

I know what you mean Andy, i did once give up part way through a project becasue the wiring defeated me, have always regretted giving up!!

Insurance wise it seems once your not a teenager anymore you can do just about anything to cento and the insurance is still not bad.. My stock PuntoGT costs twice as much to insure as the SeiTurbo, but I think the claim would cost them alot more if i crashed the seicento though.

I have given up on many projects when i was younger all i was doing was biting off more than i could chew so to speak but back then cars were loads cheaper to buy and easier to get rid of (y) but it was a very good way of learning and it was a steep learning curve and also the wiring was one hell of alot easier :D:D and doing the cinq conversion was again a steep learning curve with trying to take everything in over a short space of time:(
would i do this conversion again???? im not sure but on the other hand once you have done it you wont forget so probably yes(y) would i do it for someone else??? no chance wouldnt want the headaches of things going wrong but id certainly give advice and help where i could as others have given to me on here and they will never really know how much their help is appreciated :worship::worship:

It was making the loom from the turbo fit in a 899 that defeated me.. i'm pretty confident i could do it now, it all seems such a big deal when your not sure exactly what your doing lol

i'm just a bit gutted as the engine was a top engine and i ended up selling all the bits off it - no idea if anyone managed to actually use any of it. I know the person i sold it to sold it all on pretty quickly for a profit and then someone popped up on here asking how to fit it and then disappeared never to return.

I'm sure if you started again things would go a bit more smoothly ;)

To be honest, if there is a person that can remove the ecu on these ecu like whta Mckitch did then it would be pretty simple.

Such a shame no one is doing that!

Well another extremely fun trip to and from work and cant stop grinning when i drive it:D:D:D
Saturday after 11am at work gets quiet so tomorrow at some point its getting cambelt kit, water pump, oil and filter, fuel filter, gearbox oil(y) it doesnt need the oils and filter doing but i thought ive covered 100 miles now and all the turning over and too much fuel going in when trying to get it started it wont do it any harm, cam belt kit and pump should of done it before it went in but thought sod it!!! it can wait till its at work and ive got all the tools and ramp round me makes it easier than doing it on the drive;)

Well as predicted work was fairly quiet today and got the few bits done that i wanted to:D gearbox oil changed, cambelt and water pump and checked the tracking as i had only set it up with my bit of string and when i put the gauges on i was only 1 degree out(y)i knew i was close as i can let go of the wheel and it drives perfectly straight but got it spot on :D
also put the lower strut brace on and i still say that does far more for the handling than anything else;)
checked everything else over to make sure everything was still tight and as it should be and all looks good and feels good.
Going ace cafe on thursday lets see how many people turn up this time, only 3 cinqs there last time lets see if anymore turn up this time(y)

There is really so little space between the cambelt and the head lamp mounting screw, isn't there? I wonder whether this could be a problem, I mean, when you shake the engine really hard (by drastic choking or changes of torque, or simply knakered engine mount) if the screw would possibly hit the belt and shred it to pieces

Ive got all 3 mounts fully tiger sealed and the engine doesnt move at all:D ive even banged it up thru the gears hard while its on the ramp and it still doesnt move so it just isnt going anywhere near it(y)(y)(y)

off the top of my head ive got about an inch of clearance maybe a little more i will measure tomorrow but i know its fine and yes the thread has been ground back flush with the 8mm nut and even took a little off the top of the nut:D:D

am glad i see that picture, as i been told a rule of thumb to time these engine that the key on the sprocket needs to be at the opposite end from the tdc sensor :).

And is looking sweet!

The location of the pulleys is irrelevant.. you time it by locking the cams and setting the bottom end so that all the pistons are in the middle and level.
